Question about HP Expresscard TV Tuner For Windows Vista (RM436AA#ABA)
Just purchased notebook in Nov 07. The TV Tuner was working fine then. 3 weeks later, and after some drivers and bios were updated, the tv tuner stopped detecting cable signal. I have restored the stystem to its original state in hopes it would work again. No such luck. Now the computer is not even detecting the tuner hardware, even though the tuner is plugged in.
HP Tech Support is unable to help. I waiting for a high level manager to call me back to see if they can fiture out the problem. I just want to send the notebook back and have them fix it and send it back to me in working conditions. The reason why I bought this computer was the tv tuner and now it does not work.
I have a DV9700 and upgraded my driver on the card and it disappeared. I had to uninstall all drivers and install original with card out, let it reboot and insert card.

There are issues with the connector on the laptop. It is related to the cooling fan sucking stuff into the express card slot. It also can get damaged if you use the laptop with an extended express card (like the tv tuner) installed. Check for lint or dust. Do not blow on it. Use compressed air.
To prevent it from happening again insert the card blank or remote when the express card isn't installed.
You should always clear the air passages on laptops on a regular basis. This is regular maintenance for newer laptops with large cpu's.. hot components etc.

Great - I'm having the exact same problem. Worked great on my Dv9000t for about 4 months, and then one day just stopped working. It still lights up like its being detected by the computer, but media center can no longer find it or recieve any channels.
I havent seen a good answer for this one yet...

Its definitely something you did.
theres a way to wipe system back to original pn hp screen.. F10.. that might fix..
if it dont. then bios is the issue.

I'm having the same exact problems. I got my system on the 11th and its been NOTHING but trouble getting this stupid TV tuner card to work. It works on a clean install the drivers... restart the machine.. and wham.. doesnt even detect its there.. you unplug the card and it makes the audio sound that its been removed but i dont see it making the link upon reinstall.
HP tech support is lousy and they dont even know what this thing is nor can they find the HP DV6700 CTO that I bought. I want to return it but i'm afraid i'm past the 20 day refund policy. I'm screwed.
