Question about Lenovo ThinkPad X31 PC Notebook
Run the onboad diagnostic by going into preboot set up, it's either F1 or F2 can't remember for sure, but the screen will tell you. If the device shows up there, then run a diagnostic on it. If the device doesn't show up on preboot, then there will be an errorcode stating that something is broken. 1 of 2 things have happened, the cage or thinkpad frame is bent and is shorting out the network device, or 2 the system board has been damaged. you can order replacement parts for the thinkpad, and if you're savy the board is fairly simple to replace, otherwise contact Lenovo, and they will replace the board for you, and send you a nice box to ship it in.
Thinkpad's are pretty tough, we have 5 and my X61 flew out the back of the Suburban at 25mph and it's a little bent but it still works; I use mine daily. I
