Question about Bodum Santos 3000 Coffee Maker

1 Answer

Is there a repair company in Texas that can work on the Bodum Santos 3001? The problem: the jug leaks water when heating up; but, did not leak coffee after brewing. This occured after I descaled the pot as per Bodum directions. So, is it possible to reseal the jug section?

I am seeking a replacement glass carafe for my Bodum Santos coffee maker. Can't seem to find one online.

Unfortunately the Santos 3000 has been out of production for several years. I would suggest contacting Bodum directly, or finding a used unit on eBay.

If that doesn't work for you, there are manual vacuum brewers on the market that work great. They are also called siphon brewers. Mainly they are produced by Yama, Hario, and Bodum.

When operating, water leaks from the edge of the filter holder. Could there be leakages within the water pump system enclosed within the housing? Are there any tools suitable to remove the warming plate?...

Hi had the same problem. Probably it is the steam/hot water valve that leaks. I just bypassed it since you can not find it anymore & is from plastick, not reparable at all. Open top cover, see if at the right, where the handle to choose steam is the plastic valve is leaking or if it is covered with white powder (residu of calc of the vapourated water). If so this is the problem. Disconnect at te bottem of the valve the tube coming from the heater. (untighten the screw, pull tube out the hole, it is a sort of press fitting with a rubber ring) . Do the same with the connection on top of the heating blok and fit the first disconnected tube in it. No leak anymore. You can not have heated water or steam anymore. But coffee works again. Best is also to fix the staem handle into the neutral position, or disconnect the wires on the switches an put them permanently in the neutral status. (one switch is closed, the other is open. So nobody can trigger the steam anymore. Will not be ok since tubing is changed. Succes.

I have a Bodum 1176 coffee maker and can't seem to tighten it sufficiently for the hot water to percolate up in to the clear jug. There are 2 hexagonal bolts on the side of the water holder and they don't...

I had the same problem and when I made the effort to tighten it enough so that the water would perk up, the caraffe cracked. I called bodum for a replacement part. Essentially they said, we have discontinued the item ..."too bad". Let me know if you find a solution. I really hate to throw away such an expensive little pot.

The pot does not heat the water

sounds like the heater coil is burned out. Might be time to replace the coffee maker.

Need a replacement filter and cannot find one

Original BS filters are still sold on Amazon (search Bodum Santos Replacement Filter) and they are found regularly on ebay. The filter was never the greatest for preventing sediment - but sediment is what you learn to love, more or less, with vacuum pots and presses.

Not a seamstress, I have still managed to hand-stitch a few excellent filters from 100% canton cotton for my older vacpots. Assuming you have the filter hardware, woven cotton and some shirred elastic makes an excellent filter for vacuum pots. Clean/rinse after use and store in a glass of water in the fridge between uses.

Brew on.
