More than likely, someone spilled food or drink in the keyboard. Take the keyboard turn it upside down and shake vigoriously. You'll be suprised of the stuff that comes out. If that doesn't do it, purchase a can of air, and turn the keyboard on it's side or slightly upside down so the stuff can fall out of it, and give it a good blow (with the can of air).

Testimonial: "that did not work. remember it is both shift buttons, not just one."

Stuck in drive

Hello

This problem is sometimes caused by a defective brake light switch. It provides power to the shift lock switch to enable gear shifting. There is a TSB for this issue so it can be fixed at the dealer for free.
Thanks for using Fixya.

The shift interlock button wont release the gear shift to go in park or drive

Its a simple fix - you just need to put your right hand underneath the dash, under the ignition switch with the stuck key, and feel around for the stiff transmission-shift-lock cable, and just giggle it about a bit. Try all directions, don't be aggressive with it; and eventually you will be able to turn the key to the LOCK position. Good luck

I took the cover off the steering column by removing 4 screws. (I had to remove the dash by removing 2 screws behind the Hood release and yanking the cover off. This is how you gain access to the two forward most bolts on the steering column cover.) From hear you should see the shift interlock on the top right of the sterring column. Pull the white lever to release the key lock. Turn the key to lock and remove your key.
I would then purchase a new interlock and replace it.

Shift button does not work in laptop

Sometimes keys get stuck and sometimes the contacts don't work anymore. Carefully turn the laptop over and gently tap it on the back to knock out any grit that might be under the key. You can also carefully use a soft paint brush to see if there's any hair, dirt or grit around the key that is preventing contact. You can also try canned air to spray out dust. If you have a pet it's quite common to get fur in the keyboard even when the cat or dog isn't near it :)

Keys on laptops don't come off and go back on as easily as they do on normal keyboards so removing the key might get you into a fix...ie break it. So I wouldn't recommend trying that if you're not familar with how it connects.

It could be that the mechanism has worn out in which case you'll have to replace the keyboard itself.

Reset my password

Here you go, keep in mind you will lose everything stored on the iPhone with this method.

Before you start, with the iphone off hold down the circle button and plug the phone in. Keep holding it down until you see a picture of a cable and the iTunes logo. Don't release the middle button until you see this screen.

Once in the restore mode, you can connect your iphone to itunes and phone in restore mode menu will pop up. Click ok, and hit restore (some iphones might require you to shift restore in order to change the firmware). This will reset your iphone and all of your contents and the iphone will be back to its original factory settings. You can put the iPhone in restore mode by holding the home and power button at the same time (sometimes it only works if u hold the power button at first and then hold on to home button)

The gear shift is locked in place and will not shift into reverse. The vehicle has a shift release button on the console to the right of the shifter. When depressed the button unlocks the shifter and the...

It has a brake-transaxle shift interlock. You should just push the brake in to shift, but if you have done that, and it still won't shift, with foot on the brake, push the shifter all the way into park. Sometimes they don't always go into park all the way. Also if you park on a hill, it puts pressure on the btsi, so you cant shift it. Have someone push the vehicle back, just enough to take the pressure off and it should shift. I had this happen to me with my Grand Am.

Gear shift won't move out of park sometimes

look for transmission shift interlock solenoid fuse.or a bad brake switch will cause transmission not to come out of park.
