Google the manufacturer of you computer, if it's an aftermarket card, google the chipset of the soundcard. it can be found on the biggest chip on the board. The number is stamped on the chip. download the driver and go from there.

How fix a computer no sound

1. Check the computer volume levels! there is a speaker icon down on the right of your desktop, click it and set is to max. If there is a red "X", go to step 2

2. Check if the computer sound driver is installed. Go to Search and type "Device manager". On the Device manager check if there is one that says "Other", with a yellow exclamation point. That would mean the system lacks the necessary drivers. If this is not the case, go to step 3.

3. Check if the problem is solved by using the back audio connections. The green is audio out, connect your audio device to the green connector, turn it on, and play some music. If nothing happens, then the problem may be on the PC motherboard. I do not recommend repair, it is best to replace with a new one.

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might...

Your Sound driver on the PC is not installed properlly or is curropted.

Go to device manager ( By clicking on start - Run - then type Devmgmt.msc)

Find a header which says "Sound Video and Game Controllers" You may find many things over there. Uninstall the Audio driver (eg. Sound Max, Avance ac 97, Audigy) and reinstall it back.

Else, you can insert the motherboard driver disc which came with the computer and re install the audio driver.

Else, you can download a software, Astra32 on your PC and run that. You will see a audio link on the left hand side, click on it and you will get a detail on the right hand side pane. You need to find something which says as "ALCXXX" (XXX could be any number).

When you get this codec name, go to google, and type "Download driver for ALCXXX" and hit Enter.
Browse the links and you can eaisly download and install the drivers for Audio.

Restart the PC and it will work fine.

Need to install a audio sound in my pc

the audio driver is really very dependent as to what is the audio device installed in your computer. you cannot just simply install a driver not compatible with what you have. try to identify first what your audio device is then try to install the correct driver with the operating system you are using (xp or vista)

Sound Driver

Your sound device is either damaged or has no driver installed. Look in Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager for yellow marks.
You'll find the driver at the Compaq site.
I can't help you further without a model number.
