Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS Router (e125894)

1 Answer

I cannot get past my security password from an earlier installation. I can only get limited access. It is connected, but not totally so I can use the wireless system. I can however use another nearby wireless router, so i know it's not my WLAN system. What can I do?

Is the security password on your wireless network? If it is, then follow the following instructions: If your computer is connected to the connection (and you use a PC), then you can go to start->run>cmd, and once you are there, type "ipconfig", once that comes up, look at the numbers after "default gateway" (That's your routers IP address) and remember them. Go to your browser (IE,Firefox,Chrome) and type the IP Address in the address bar. Once you do, you'll come to a page that (probably) has a username and password field, I don't know what your username and password would be, you either set it or left it blank, try the following if you're unsure: Username: admin Password: admin, Username: admin Password: (Blank), and Username: (Blank) Password: (Blank). After (and if) you're in the router, then you can do one of two things (1) You can look around for "security" or "password", and It'll probably have settings for the password there. (2) You can hard reset the device. Normally I wouldn't suggest this, but since this is just a router and not a computer, I wouldn't be too worried about it. I couldn't tell you how to do this here, because I don't know what kind of router you use, but if you do, first you need to find the model (which would be on the router as a sticker or label, then you need to Google something like "hard reset (Make and model go here, e.g.: Linksys WRT120N)" That's it, it may sound complicated, but it's pretty easy, have a good day.

In my past experience, motherboard passwords haven't locked access to the HDD or ODD. They have just limited the motherboard from accessing these things. So by replacing the mobo you should be okay as there would no longer be any restriction on these devices.

I have already been sent the password reset code but the link given cannot be accessed.i forgot my facebook password and i am being informed that i have reached the password reset attempts limit

Have you tried copy pasting the link into your browser address bar? If you have reached your "password reset attempts limit" then you should seek assistance from the Facebook Customer Support/Care again and explain your situation. There is no way you can access your account on your own once the password reset attempt limit has been exhausted.

You need to limit your number of connection by browsing your router in explorer. In order to do that simply enter 192.168.1.1 or whatever is the IP of your router and enter admin name and password out there and go to settings limit connections and there you can limit the connections to the number of connections you make with the router. In case you need other options kindly let me know.

it is pretty simple, once you've done it a few times
log in to the router: 192.168.1.1 in the address line of internet explorer, the default username is left blank, and the default password is admin (if you changed the password, us it) once in the menu, click on Wireless The default SSID (Router name for your network) is LINKSYS, you can change it to what you want (BOB's router etc) , then security, and you'll have the option to enable security, and select the type, Use WPA and for the key I suggest an old phone number that you know by memory (All 10 digits including area code), then save the settings. Next time you try to connect to the network, it will prompt for the key, type in the one you entered, and yo are on-line, wireless and secure

How do i set security on the router and limit the number of computers access to the router.. i think the neighbors are accessing the internet trough it.

Setup the router to use a password. Once you have the security setup on the router it will not be necessary to limit the number of connections though you could limit the number of DHCP addresses it assigns.

Please see page 51 of the users manual for instructions on setting up WEP.

Users list of internet though wireless

There is no simple way of knowing how many people are using your internet connection, sorry.

Anyone who has your password can access your internet connection.

If you wish to limit the number of users, change your password and only give it to those you wish to allow access to your connection.

Hope this is of some help.

Please rate this reply thank you.
