Mine has started doing the same thing. You have to go to Function and Data Registration then System Settings then TX Start Speed and slow it down (this is also called the Baud speed). The factory default is 33600, I think, but you can slow it down to 2k or so. I have no idea what this means, but it's what Canon's website says to do and it does seem to fix it most of the time. It just makes the machine slow. I have no idea why ours has just started doing this.
