Auto-switch off

Hi,
When we switch on the player, it automatically displays the word "welcome" digitally, followed immediately by the word "protect" and then switches off automatically! We couldn't keep the player on long enough to even begin to troubleshoot or re-program and could not find any solutions in the operations manual. We've tried the primitive method of switching the main plug on and off but it doesn't work at all. Can anyone help please :-(

I had exactly the same problem. I think it was something with the power. I changed the socket where the power was connected and it worked.
