    Hi again,

I appreciate your e-mail,but I am still not sure what to do. I am sorry but not real intune with electronics very well, First, which remote, the dishnetwork remote will only allow to display the channels, that are not the ones I want to watch or record. Do I need to unplug the dishnet, and start from the basic hookup? I know this is a problem.

Thanks, for your help, but right now I just can not afford the cable or a converter box.

    Thanks,

You do not need to connect anything more than a digital receiver. Connect a digital receiver to view and record all programs on the air.
If you use the VCR it wont work, as the VCR (and many DVD players) have only analog receiver. You will need to connect an aerial to the VCR to receive few analog channels , instead of getting all the basic channels that you had on satellite for free on a digital terrestrial receiver.

Hi there,

Well YES you can record the programs to your VCR/DVR..... note. only few VCR provide the facility to record TV shows, so check them first......

Follow the below steps to record TV shows -

1. Press the "Guide" button on the remote control then find the program you wish to record on the DVR system. When you finally found the show, you can either press "Select" or the "Record" button.

2. You will see a another screen where it says "Create Timer." On the right side, press "Create Timer"-- it will take only a few seconds for the DVR to locate the program on the guide.

3. The "Create Timer" page will automatically close and you will see a small green or blue button indicating that the show is either recording at the moment or set to record at a specific time.

4. If you want confirmation that your program is set to record, press the "DVR" button three times. You will see the "My Daily Schedule" screen, so scroll down and find the program of your choice.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

I am plugging in a cable from the dishnet satellite in to the antenna port in back and i can't get it to work. But my other tv's work fine doing the same thing

you usually cant go directly from the dishnet sat antenna to the tv without convert (dish box) i would try put it in the cable port and run from the menu options channel scan. do tht as well with the antenna port.

Appears to be recording but is not. The player

Hi
Does your dishnet box have two tuners or one, if only one then only the program being watch on the tv can be recordered , this will have to be connected to the av input on the recorder and one of the av (line input) selected with the remote control for the recorder, If the dishnet box as two tuners then the output from one tuner can be used to feed the tv and the other one will go to the recorder connected through the av input. hope this will help regards windyhouse

Philips flat tv. Can't get it to hook up to dish network. The room where the tv is there isn't a dish box. We have to watch what is on in the other room. It only has one coax cable to hook up. Don't know...

I should be channel 3 or 4. This assumes that this coax cable is coming out as a TV R.F. connection of a Dish Network Box (Satellite Receiver) intended for direct connection to an old fashioned NTSC (channels 2-13, 14-83, possibly even has cable channels depending on how old?) TV.

If this coax is the output of a coax going directly to the Satellite Dish or through what might might look to you like some kind of fancy splitter (called a Multi-Switch) the you WOULD NOT want to hook that to your old NTSC tv. The frequency is too high ... etc. etc... you would need Dish Box (as you call it) a.k.a. a Satellite receiver - with a good and active satellite card from your provider.

Programming my DishNet remote for my Sony AV System

Hi, the manual for the vip622 (the model I have... not sure what you have) says to use the following codes for Sony Tuners / Amplifiers.

639 645 650 687 728 729 730
(located in the Appendix)

See Chapter 10 here:
http://www.dishnetwork.com/support/documents/receivers/vip622/default.aspx

for instructions on how to program the AUX setting on your remote and how to set your remote to adjust the receiver volume while controlling the Dish receiver.

Have dish net work

That pixelation is caused by weak transponders or bad weather.
Wait for a nice clear day and see if you continue to have the problem.
If you do, you need to call your service provider. (assuming this is a legit Dishnet Satellite)

You should be able to use your remote control to do this.Your channel 73 is more than likely UHF 73 so you need to put your tv in the antenna setting rather than cable setting. Once you do this just input 73 with your remote. Hope this helps! Stargazer
