Instead of installing numerous times, do the following:

1. Disconnect your printer from the USB Port/Serial Port.
2. Make sure you remove all associated software for your printer from your computer. IMPORTANT: RESTART YOUR COMPUTER
3. Go to the manufacturer's website www.hp.com and click on support and drivers --> Type in the model number --> Click on your Windows Operating System - XP/Vista, etc...and download and install the appropriate software.

While installing you will be prompted to connect your printer to your computer. Do NOT connect it before then.

Scanning function has become incredibly slow!

try uninstalling the associated software, perform a disk cleanup and a defrag and then reinstall . This may make a difference. If your computer has slowed down generally try installing and using CCLEANER to sanitize your hard disk. Unless the issue is related to USB issues or the hardware itself, or a broken/damaged O/S installation this procedure may resolve the problem

Software work to slow and it shot down

Software Installation : Installing more and more software can make the computer slow down. The reasons for that are that installation of a software will make entries in registry and that is somewhat bad. The software may be running in the startup. The software will install various files on the computer and an overloaded hard disk makes the computer slow.
Free up disk space : Try to keep your hard disk space free. You’ll always notice that a computer with free space on hard disk will always run much faster than the one which is loaded with extra stuff.
* Remove Unwanted Items From Startup : Well, if you’ll remove the unwanted softwares from the startup then your computer will boot up much faster and the memory (RAM) will also remain free and thus that will again result in better computing experience
Run hard disk maintenance utilities : Always run the utilities like Disk Defragmentation or Disk checking utilities regularly, around once in 2 weeks
Run Registry Cleaner : Right, this one is related to first tip. In case you’ve already installed and uninstalled various softwares before reading this tutorial then you can go ahead and run various registry cleaning softwares

Check your user manual for resetting the printer to factory default settings.

If that doesn't work, unplug your printer from the computer and uninstall your software through Add/Remove Hardware. Shut down your computer and reboot. Reinstall your printer software, following the instructions carefully.

This should clear up your problem.
Let me know if you still are having problems. :)

Windows XP SP3 will not recognize the printer is connected.

It could be the cable, but most likly it is a damaged driver. try uninstalling the printer and all the drivers then reboot and resinstall it. You could also run "sfc /scannow" to see if any system files are damaged.

After running full system recovery I tried to reinstall my printer and scanner. I reinstalled my printer (HP Deskjet 870ces). Then tried to reinstall HP Scanjet 5100c on a machine running Windows XP Pro....

Some time printers and scanners conflict. Try this, uninstall both printer and the scanner, then install the scanner first and try it to see if it works. Then install your printer. If it doesn't work let me know I'll walk you through. Good luck :)

HELP printer is haging up computer

To me, it looks more as a network problem rather than a printer problem. Just to make sure, delete every unused printer drivers from your computer, including the SCX-4521f. Unused printer drivers take up memory and CPU resources of your computer, even if they are not being used. The second common issue on slow computers is an excess of installed fonts. If you have more than 300 fonts installed, you need a cleanup.

Finally, install the SCX-4521 as a local printer only on your computer and print some tests. If they come out at decent speed, get a real computer technician to diagnose your network. If it doesn't, you need to further clean your computer's registry. It is most probably loading drivers, data and files from deleted applications. You can download a very good cleaning utility called Ccleaner on the Internet. Also check for possible virus using Panda or Kapesky antivirus. Good luck.
