You haven't said which make and model you have so I cannot give you a precise model-specific answer, but usually the remote control for a digital tv has a button to switch the tv over to digital mode. You may also need to press the AV button on you remote a few times to get the tv into the correct mode.

If this has helped then please return the favour by rating my answer, if not then please add a comment to include the exact make and model of tv which you are asking about.

My TV will not stop switching itself off

Hi, The first thing to do is troubleshoot your TV independent to any other service provider that has a box that probably connects to your TV via a HDMI cable or old version scart.

Simply turn off your TV and turn off the socket that the TV is plugged in for 20 mins. Also turn of any Virgin media boxes.

After 20 mins turn on the TV. Do not worry if you get a message saying no signal detected. Wait and see if the TV stays on with no messages such as auto-standby. If the TV remains on with no problems then turn on your Virgin Media Box. The box will need to initialise ( about 30 seconds ) and then the TV should recognise the HDMI signal and you will see the Virgin TV.

If your TV turns off at any point during this process you have a fault with the TV, If when you turn on the Virgin box and no signal is detected you have either a cable connection problem or a Virgin Box problem, so using your TV REMOTE turn your TV back to ARIEL input to receive the normal television broadcasts via your Ariel that give you the normal freeview television that all modern TV's can receive, if you can get the normal reception contact virgin support who will troubleshoot your problem.

I have an LCD HDTV BLA. I have Freeview and

Hi.

If you are using an external freeview box you need an HD box (See available products).

If you have an LCD TV with built-in HD tuner (TV will say HD Ready and will have internal tuner), then you can use the TV internal tuner.

The best way to get HD is via satellite. Althought HD Freeview is theoretically available since end 2009 I have not been able to receive any HD channel using Freeview tuner, and I live in a London area where HD FV is supposed to be available since 2010.
Even with Free Sat the choice is poor. You get steadily only BBC HD, where at most you can watch some documentary or drama series (it is a kind of sample channel). ITV HD, BBC1 HD and the rest frequencies on Astra change Sat quite often. I am a TV technician and the sat tuning job is not difficult to me but retuning every month was still an awful waste of time.At the end I gave up and I only watch HD through Sky.

At the end of the day the only efficient way to receive HD TV is still through Virgin or Sky.

Regards.

How do i access Freeview without Sky

http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Freeview+box#q=Freeview+box&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1680&bih=925&tbs=shop:1,p_ord:p&prmd=ivnsr&ei=idt7TYzqB4qFhQfhmqX9Bg&ved=0CAoQuw0oAQ&fp=9de9b54e9db2914f

Unless your flat panel has built in free-view in which case we would need a model to identify how to access you'll need a free-view box which are relatively cheap from most shops

I HAVE A DTV WITH BUILT IN FREEVIEW AND A DVD RECORDER WITH BUILT IN FREE VIEW, BUT CANT SEEM TO GET A GOOD PICTURE TO RECORD OFF THE TV. ANY IDEAS?

You could try an antenna booster but if the picture is still snowy you wont get much of an improvement. Also make sure that you have a HQ yagi array on top of your house, direction and height location can make a huge difference.

I suggest ditching the freeview and going for SKY or Virgin media

Cant get my bt vision [freeview] to come on. my box doesnot let me view freeview . on my bt vision box.

This system can only be used if you subscribe to BT Vision.
They have it configured so that Freeview only works once the box has checked your subscription.
I think this is a bit mean of BT because with their system Freeview is not free as you cannot access it without paying the monthly fee.

LG RH266 setup with freeview tv

Sorry to say no it wont not unless the Tv set manuel says it has a Duel Freeview feed , you have to get another freeview box for the recorder .
besides If you used the freview in the tv 1 , the tv would have to be on when you wanted to record ?. and 2 you couldnt watch another channel whilst recording another .. only 1 tuner ?. also you could only record the program you had on .at the time no timer facility .
People are still used to the Old system of VHs and the fact that all videos had tuners built in so you could watch and record .. It will come and indeed some more modern DVD recorder have freeview built in again sorry but thats the facts , and dont forget if you want the pay per view channels on free view your going to need a tuner with a pay card port ... Cannot find freeview/digital on our new TV

You can only get the freeview / digital channels through cable by subscribing to a package which includes them. They will then supply the necessary decoder to get the channels. Otherwise you will need a digital aerial and a freeview box if you tv is not dtv ready.
