Keyboard suddenly got weird

Hi, yesterday I think I spilled some water on my toshiba satellite l300 laptop keyboard. For the hour following the accident the keyboard was working alrite. Later the screen just shows the character "x" typing out incessantly itself in any search box and my word document. I then turn off my laptop.

And later when I switch back on and type on some characters, they are either not coming out at all or give something entirely different (ie. typing 1 gets me 2, and typing w makes the screen rotates, and typing r it is not showing at all). This situation shifts over last night. Sometimes it is the "a" not working, other times it is the "s". What should I do? Thanks.

I don't know how much water you spilled on your keyboard, but you should bring it to some one who can remove the keyboard without damaging the laptop and either first try to give it a good cleaning and try it again or replace it if it won't clear up after the cleaning. Hopefully you didn't get any water in the computer itself because then you have more serious problems coming

A keyboard is nothing more than a collection of small switches under the keys. A liquid will short out between the contacts of the switches and is the same as hitting the key. There are still fluids inside they keyboard circuitry. By using it like this it can short out the keyboard and ruin it. It needs to be taken out and cleaned and dried throughly before it is ruined. (might already be ruined). You can usually find replacement keyboards on places like ebay.com

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S7462 and the keyboard is acting weird. when I type and press H key it automatically goes in front of the last alphabet i type and when I press down up and side arrow keys...

This is caused by a short in the keyboard. Either something was spilled into the keyboard, or it was hit by a hard object.
Search EBay! for a replacement keyboard. Most of the time you can find them for $35-$50 and have a professional install it for you.

this sounds like a damaged keyboard, or you spilled something on it. I am afraid you have to buy a new keyboard, because laptop keyboards are very tricky and hardly can be fixed.

You need a replacement keyboard. You can get one from ebay for about $25. Just search for "toshiba satellite pro L300 keyboard" without the quote.

Several keys are not working on toshiba L300

Hello,

the problem is from the keyboard. Open the laptop, detach the keyboard from the laptop and clean it. If cleaning does not solve the problem, it means you will have to get another keyboard or use an external keyboard.

Take care.

Spill soda on my laptop keyboard

It is likely the only problem is that the soda is causing the keys to stick. There is probably no damage to any other internal components. Usually, laptop keyboards have a metal-based frame/tray that will protect the internal components from minor spills.

If you want to get rid of the cracking sound, you'll need to purchase a replacement keyboard from the laptop manufacturer or another source such as eBay, and then remove the sticky keyboard and replace it with the newly purchased one.
