Question about HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Have a cartridge error with a HP 5610 all-in-one. Says to refer to device documentation. Nothing seems to work in fixing the problem. Please help.
My HP5610 was acting up with the error in cartridge thiny.
I held down the # and the 3 and reset the unit and it is back

Is there any other error messages? Like carriage jam or something? If there are no other error then try to do a partial reset on your printer, to do that follow these steps:
Turn your printer on, remove the power cable at the back of your printer while the printer is ON. PRESS AND HOLD the # key and 3 key on the keypad, plug back the power cable WITHOUT releasing those buttons, DO NOT RELEASE THE BUTTONS until you can see the WELCOME SCREEN or INPROPER SHUT DOWN PRESS OK TO CONTINUE.
If this does not resolved your issue I'll try to find some solutions from you.

I also had the same problem.
So I bought another HP printer.
But before throwing away the (supposed broken) HP5610 I made the last attempt: I gave it the power with the new power supply and...surprise, the printer worked perfectly!!
I hope this helps, most of all I hope you didn't throw away your HP5610...;-)

I bought the Office Depot brand of cartridges. I noticed when the printer went through the cartridge alignment procedure it always showed an error but it would print. When I put in the second EL CHEAPO Office Depot cartridge it quit printing. I went down to Office Depot and told them about my problem and their computer tech said buy genuine HP cartridges. I DID AND IT WORKS. My suggestion is don't use the off brand cartridges. I know that sucks but it cured my problem. I know it will cost more to print from now on.

My HP Officejet 5600 series is giving me the Cartridge Error: Refer to Documentation for Troubleshooting , I tried the solution below but it still didn't work and I continue to get the same error, any idea what next to try? Thanks

Had printer cartridge error. Did all resets above with no luck. Pulled out both cartridges, then put in black one on right, and then color one. Replaced both and it was color cartridge that was giving me the error. I don't think I have used color one in over a year.
NOW it won't align properly after installing new cartridge. UGH

Throw away the printer . It is NOT going to work. I am going to HP Cupertino head quarter to dump it in from of office. They will take it from there .

My printer prints a whole bunch of blank papers BEFORE printing the document. What can be the problem of this?? Please help, it driving my crazy!!

I had this once and it turned out to be a stray piece of tape on one of the contact points on one of the cartridges.
My suggestion would be to get a strong flashlight and inspect both the back of the cartridge(s) and the printers cartridge location slot (copper contact points) where the cartridge gets inserted.
Also get some high quality alcohol and Q-tips and, with the power off, clean both the cartridge contacts and the printers cartridge holder contacts. Let both dry before powering up.
Other than that, I suppose it could be a bad or incorrect cartridge type or perhaps even something in the printer.
