How do I cut internal and external cornice ceiling mouldings so that they fit neatly together when I put them up? I have a mitre box but they do not seem to fit together as one is straight and the other fitting is curved at an angle

Here's a link to a web stie which gives a good tutorial on cutting/fitting crown molding. Is this what you need?

How do I cut the the corners(miter) of Polystyrene cornice.

Try making the cut with the rear of the cornice against the rear of the miter box rather than the front as you would for cutting regular (not crown) molding. I hope you are not using a circular saw to cut polystyrene.

Need to fit a tall cornice on a new kitchen but my sliding mitre saw splinters the cornice

You need much smaller teeth and pitch for softer materials. Hardware stores have a list of types of blades for Stone, wood, plaster, laminates, etc. Your service manual for the saw should have this info also, as it depends on the diameter of the saw as well. If all else fails, new blades are printed with their optimum use, check each one in a self serve store.
Cheers.

Did you sense an odd smell? Try removing the brushes, there should be two, it could be one is worn too short or the connecting wire is broken.

Receiver won't fit Model 52-CS

Turn the breaker off first.
You'll have to take the fan down and of course disconnect the wires. I run into this a lot. What I do is take a razor knife and cut carefully into the ceiling on the side of the box, Then connect the wires from the box to the remote module with wire nuts. I always wrap them in a couple turns of eletricians tape.
Then connect the long wires to the other end of the module and push it up through the slot I cut out and lay it flat on the top side of the ceiling.
When you put it back together the part that goes against the ceiling will cover the hole in the sheet rock. Pain in the rear, huh?

What do i do to cut inside/outside corners for crown molding

It is very hard to make proper cuts with one of these.

You may want to buy a power miter saw.

You would be better off marking your 45 degree angle and cutting it freehand.

If you angle your saw a little the face will look like it matches up better.

If you need more help post a comment.

Remote receiver doesn't fit

ok since you have the power off move ceiling fan box electrical box over place remote above the electrical box with the antenna sticking out replace fan power up you might have to go into attic to place the remote sensor and antenna down to outside of fan i had the same problem myself i made a cut in drywall ceiling big enough for sensor unit let the antenna hang out placed up there

i used a wall plate cut in half to match the hole i just made or you dry wall back up but if remote goes out theres now no way to get to sensor unit
little cut in drywall place sensor threw antenna hang down put plate over hole

Make sure the power wires from the ceiling mount are still in the electric box. Then have them come from the side near the screw mounting area. In otherwords, not through the center hole. In the center of the black metal part - there is where you put the reciever. It will fit literally resting on the black metal.
