Question about GE Monogram ZE1660SA Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Microwave appears to have no power. Display is blank. Checked and found internal fuze blown. Replace the fuze with 20A ceramic fuze. Display works. When try to cook something, microwave runs for about half a second and then oven stops and the display goes back to blank. Probably fuze is blown again. What part could be bad to cause the internal fuze to blow?

You have a short somewhere. Possible causes, defective interlock switches for the door, shorted capacitor, shorted diode, defective triac. More than likely its one of these.

Microwave KCMS 135H, makes loud sound followed by blown fuse.

either the high voltage diode, capacitor,or the magnetron tube is dead shorted, remove the leads off the magnetron tube, but check the diode and capacitor with an ohmmeter to check these for a shorted condition before trying a new fuse,if it builds high voltage then its the mag tube

Can I replace an internal thermal fuse in my jmc7000 jenn-air microwave?

It doesn't have a thermal fuse, but it has a 20A ceramic fuse and on or around the magnetron it has a thermostat.

The 20A fuse (if blown) can be had in local appliance parts store, and places like Lowe's Home Depot, and Wal-Mart.

For the fuse and/or thermostat, you can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

If the fuse is blown and it blows again, it may be a loose fuse holder, shorted high voltage capacitor, or door switch trouble.

If the thermostat failed, it's due to a magnetron overheating due to the internal cooling fan's not working, or just the magnetron itself going bad.

As a bonus, you can find your owner's manual online here free.

GE microwave oven model#JVM1441BH04 when you close door on switch activates and oven comes on. Only goes off when door is opened.

HELLO.

the problem your are experiencing with your microwave oven is a failed interlock switch.
Be careful when closing your microwave door. Slamming the door too hard is one of the main reasons that the interlock switch is damaged.

Slamming the microwave door shut can easily blow the microwave fuse, but they can also blow due to problems with the interlock switches.
A microwave oven will not function until the fuse is replaced.

Instruction on how to replace fuse on microwave.

1. Unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet to prevent electrocution. Place the microwave in a well-lit area to be able to locate the fuse.

2. Use a screwdriver to remove the outer cabinet of the microwave, and follow the power cord to the fuse. The fuse is located 2 to 3 inches within the microwave and is attached to the power board.

3. Observe the fuse to determine if it is blown. Blown glass fuses will produce burn marks on nearby surfaces, or the internal fuse wire will be black and melted, while ceramic fuses show no outward appearance of being blown.

4. Determine if a ceramic fuse is blown by testing it with an ohmmeter. If the ohmmeter reads zero ohms, your fuse is not blown. Other readings on the ohmmeter show that your fuse is blown.

5. Replace the blown fuse by popping it out of its holder, and snapping a new fuse in its place. Tighten the fuse clips by squeezing them together with your fingers.

6. Replace the outer cabinet of the microwave, and plug the microwave back into the electrical outlet. Test the microwave to see if it's working properly.

thanks.

Ok , I replaced the fuse checked all connections and checked plug for power ! Still my lg lmv1630st will not show any power at all . What gives?

by replacing the fuse you meant the house circuit fuse or the microwaves internal fuse? and by conncetions your talking the internal wiring inside the case of the unit or wiring from the plug? if not its your 15 or 20 amp ceramic fuse inside the unit,if thats blown replace, but chk h.v.diode,v.v. cap, triac, control board, mis-adjusted interlock safety door switch, and lastly the mag could be defective

My sharp carousel II microwave doesn't seem to have power. I checked the power source and that seems fine. Is there an internal fuse?

Is it dead, meaning no display, no light when you open the door and no beeps when you press a pad on the keypad?

We have the relevant service / repair manuals for this model and have uploaded it to our site here and here to help you.

They will give you safety info, step by step help in disassembly, troubleshooting tips, and part numbers.

Most computers will open these documents automatically, but you may need the free Adobe Reader

I would suspect the 20A ceramic line fuse or the magnetron temperature fuse.

You can order parts from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

20A ceramic fuses are available at local appliance part stores or places like Wal-Mart and Lowe's.
