Try changing the "communication" setting on the camera from "PC Computer" to "PTP"

Menu > Tools2 (wrench/hammer/2) Communication = Print/PTP

Download "EOS Utility" for the Mac from USA.Canon.com website or just use a card reader.

Digital Rebel XT blinking "busy". Cannot reset!

This sounds like the screw that always comes out in these has shorted out the flash circuit to the main body ground and shorted out two or three circuit boards.

Trying to upload photos from my canon rebel xt, but a busy signal keeps flashing. What to do?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Canon Rebel XT won't connect to computer, tried the ptp setting, still didn't work. It is not a driver issue, as it worked earlier today. On the screen it says 'Busy'.

My rebel XTi won't connect to my mac.

I had the same problem but solved it with iphoto: after turning on the Mac, plug in the XTi and wait for a moment for iphoto to pick up the camera. Rest was an auto process.

Unlock secured image file

The fact that images are 'Locked' on your computer is nothing to do with your friends camera and everything to do with what you have set on your computer- I am not a Macie So its over to you and your Mac Manual/Forums Etc.,
