DVD shows ''UNKNOWN DISC'' and came out
When I insert DVD disc this recorder try to read disc but few second later disc will come out. try ''setup'' but half of fuction not working. I used this machine only 3 times (warranty is over 6 month ago)

- model is LG LRH-880 any blank DVD insert still came out with "unknown disc" sign showed. try with VERBATIM (its mitsubishi brand), still did not reading and came out but on display ther is no sign of "unknown disc" any help? PLEASE HELP~~~!Oct 21, 2009

This is due to you trying to use the wrong type of DVD. refer to the manual for your system to see what ypes of disc it will accept. There are also many cheap DVD disks on the market that will not operate in vertain DVD systems. These are mainly cheap disks that have been made to a low quality standard. Also there are many systems that do not like certain manufacturers disks, typically Ricoh and others.
The only drive that seems to work and is recommended as a replacement drive is an LG GSA-H50N (that comes with a beige or black front) but no other 'N' type LG drives seem to work. These are high quality drives abnd are freely available from many online sources at around US $35, £25, E25

These can be swapped out really easily by unplugging the existing connectors and removing the mounting screws and simply placing the new drive in place of the old one, screwing back the mounting screws, reconnecting the connectors and powering back on the unit.

Hi, does it happen to all DVD's or only some ? if it plays others ie cd's then your player can't play all formats or does not play fake cd's .
Get a technician to check its mechanism (disk compartment ) even swap lens sometimes the lens has weaken .
