Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a Admiral AW-06CR1FM room air conditioner. Since last night, the LED panel on the unit displays "EE" and I can't get the unit to start. There is power in the circuit. Was able to get the unit started and running for about three hours last night, but it stopped and EE was displayed. Now, I can do is press the re-set on the power sbcle, but that just produces the EE, and nothing else happens.

The solution provided is appreciated. I wish there was an illustration that I could refer to that would help me to figure out what a "contactor" is and where it is located in the unit. Any suggestions?

Hello. The EE error indicates that the time delay board {TDB} is faulty. IF you are technically inclined you can go inside of your unit and by pass the time delay board. This is the quick fix and for the most part you will won't miss it anyway. Other wise, at least now when you call a repair shop you can get their price upfront and shop around.

IF you do want to fix it your self, here are the steps:

unplug the unit. turn off the thermostat. take all three wires off the TDB. and take the board right out. Next find the two wires low voltage wires going into the unit and put one wire on one side of the contactor and the other to the other side of the contactor. Be sure the wire connectors dont go to the high voltage sides of the contactor.

I looked through all of my manuals and I am unable to come up with a schematic that would assist you. I will continue to search and send you one if I find one, in the meantime, knowing what the issue is I also suggest that you consider calling a few repair shops, tell them what you know about the problem and ask them for a firm estimate.

What causes a unit will turn on for about 1sec and then shuts down with the letters EEon display

EE is an ERROR code typically it is a disconnect from the control and the unit, this is inclusive I believe so the thermistor or sensor is bad or off at the board.

My air conditioner worked fine last night, but when I tried to turn it on today in the 101 heat, it displayed E1 (blinking). I've unplugged it because it would not let me turn it off either.

If your air conditioner displays E1 in the display panel and won't turn on, it means that the Room Thermistor (a device connected to the thermostat that detects room temperature) is shorted or defective, and you need to have your air conditioner serviced

I get a EE code on the display. What is it?

Hello
EE is a high pressure error code. The unit may be to small for the room deppending on what temp it is outside. If its over 95.f The a/c is probably overworked.

One way to solve this would be to cool down the coils outside.Spray water lightly on the outside of the unit too cool it down which will bring the pressure down also.

Size of air condition.

Get the cubic volume of the room. The highest temprature differential. and how many air changes you need. this will give you the btu required.
If this is too high, get the biggest unit that your supply can safely carry.

How to tell how old my admiral air conditioner is?

usually the serial number of the unit will indicate when it was manufactured. It is generally the first 4 numbers indicating the week number and the last 2 digits of the year but the formats do change over time

I have a GE air conditioner with ditigal panel. I

Wash out outside coil from time to time. This is the most over looked part of window units. Take care not to spray water directly into fan motor. If not real humid in house check temp coming out of ac inside and make sure filter and coil are clean. run on high speed and the air should have good force. 20 to 30 degree temp drop of room temp should be about right. Much depend on outside temp and humidity and indoor humidity plus insulation factor of area. How many people are in the area and if you keep unit on day and night .

Not turning on

Hi

Try to reset the unit by disconnecting the power supply for 10sec. and operate the unit. If it wont work replace your Room Air and Coil Thersmistor or test the thersmistor with mulitester. The resistance reading of thermistor is 10 kilo ohms @25deg. C room temp. If it is shorted or open the unit wont operate.

Hope this can help :)

EE IN TEMP DISPLAY

I just called a maytag repair store, and they just had one in the shop, it sounds like the control panel has died, and will need to be replaced. They cost around 60 dollars, + install fee.
