There are some suggestions here
http://forums.techarena.in/networking-security/1158484.htm

Try disabling ip version 6
and try an ipconfig /all to make sure all your settings are as you would expect.

Try pining the loop back adaptor 127.0.0.1
Then try pining your Default Gateway (value from ipconfig output)
Then try pining your DNS server.

Any other machines on your LAN you can ping.

This should help you narrow it down.

Need to know who your ISP is, method of connection (wireless, DSL, Modem, etc). Something in your network setup isn't set right. You should contact your ISP for more information.

Cant access internet through wireless network.

How do you know your notebook is connected to your wifi AP? Did you try pinging the gateway? If not, open your command window & type "ping 192.168.0.1" (put in your own gateway address.) If you get replies, then ping something outside of your network: "ping 4.2.2.2" (this is a verizon dns server). If you get replies, then "ping yahoo.com". If it does not fail at any of the above steps, you don't have a connectivity problem. If you fail any of the above, then report back & we'll continue the troubleshooting.

Cant access internet but can connect to wireless TP-link router

Your friend is able to go online using the same wireless network. that means the wireless network is working properly and there might be a problem with your computer .
You said that you can connect to the wireless network but you can not go online.
Check the IP address and the default gateway of the computer.
Try to ping the router and DNS server and check what happens.
Make sure that there is no static IP address on the computer.

you can ping a website to check if there's data flow. if you're using vista just click the Start button and type in command in the start search, then right click the Command Prompt and select "Run as Administrator". in the command prompt just type in this command:

ping www.google.com

if the result is 0% loss then there is dataflow, it might be your firewall blocking the connection or your browser itself is not working properly. you might need to reset the browser if that's the case.

if the result is 100% loss then type in this command:

ping 64.233.189.104

if the result here is 0% loss then it's probably a DNS problem which is quite easy to resolve. you can download and run this application from microsoft:

hope this helps you...

Unable to connect to internet on vista via wireless router

Connecting to Router open diagnostic page and check your Wan connection.
If you do not find it use from same router the ping or trace command to check your Internet connection.
If you cannot get a result check Wan configuration: (PPOE/A Bridge etc) with your ISP (call or read user manual)
if your router is on net but you cannot browswe vrom vaio check if router access list is set: disable it or add your PC MAC address.

Cannot connect second computer to my networn

I have listed several things here that you can use to find the problem. Sorry this is so long...network problems can be very tedious to find.

First check your version of Windows:
Double click on "My Computer", then click on "View System Information" to make sure you have at least Service Pack 1...or better yet....Service Pack 2.

Next check your Windows XP network settings:
Click on Start....Control Panel....Network Connections...Local Area Connection...Properties(button). Scroll down the list to find Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and click on it to highlight it. Now click the properties button below the list. You should now be able to click the small buttons to select both of the "Obtain....automatically" choices for IP address and DNS server. Click on "OK" to close each of the windows.

Now you can test your computer to see if it is "talking" to the router: Click on Start...Run...and type "cmd" in the small box and click "OK". This will open a black command window where you tell the computer what to do. Type the command "ipconfig" and press return (enter). This will list your ip address, subnet mask, and default gateway. Make a note of the default gateway address so you can use it for the next test. If the IP address begins with 192.168...then your computer is probably communicating with the router okay. If your IP address is blank or starts with 169...then your network connection to the router may NOT be working.

The final test!!! Use the default gateway address from the last step to do a "ping" test. In the black command window...type "ping" followed by the default gateway address. For example: IF the default gateway happens to be 192.168.1.1....then type the ping command this way: ping 192.168.1.1

If the result is a list of replies from the gateway address...great!! Your network connection is working. If the ping command results in a list of "request timed out", or something else, then your network connection needs more help.

The ultimate test is to try using the Internet with your browser.
If this works, next try typing your gateway address into the brower address bar. It should connect you to the router setup page.(?)

Let me know the results of each of these tests, and I'll be happy to assist you further, if needed.

How to test Connections with Ping

Ping is one of the first tools to use to check computer, router and Internet connectivity. It's run at a command prompt, but getting the basic information is quite easy. You can do the whole thing in 30 seconds. 1. To run ping, type Start > Run. 2. Type cmd in the Run window, and click OK. A black and white command line window pops up. 3. Type ping followed by an IP address or a DNS address. 4. Press Enter to execute the command. Three useful examples: 1. ping 127.0.0.1 (This is a "loopback ping" ? your computer trying to talk to itself. This tests whether your computer is able to handle Ethernet traffic. If this has a negative result, the computer has an operating system problem.) 2. ping 192.168.1.1 (If the result is "Request timed out", type ping 192.168.0.1. If that also times out, then the computer is not making a connection to your router.) 3. ping www.netgear.com. (Tests whether your computer can contact Internet computers.) When there is no problem, the ping results look as shown in the following screenshot. Three items of interest in the results are highlighted with arrows. The first arrow shows the computer being contacted is replying. (The DNS address "www.netgear.com" is converted by ping into the equivalent IP address, 10.1.1.86.) This shows both that your network is connnected to the Internet, and that that computer on the Internet is running normally. www.netgear.com is always running, so this is a good test address to use. The second arrow shows that Ethernet packets have "0% loss". This is the best possible result. It means that the network connection is lightly loaded, and that it has not been necessary to transmit any of the same information twice. The third arrow shows the average time it took to answer. "Average = 0ms" is the best possible result. Probably you'll only get responses this quickly from computers on your own network. Interpreting Ping when There's a Problem As far as NETGEAR equipment, the problem you're most likely to run into is "Request Timed Out". This means there is no connection. Read these posts: http://www.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=252225&thid=102077 and http://www.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=252225&thid=102074 Another error is "Unknown host", which just means that the DNS or IP address you typed doesn't exist. Probably, you made a typo. Other problems are generally outside the scope of NETGEAR support. Often they are problems with your ISP ? contact them with concerns. A controversial situation is when packet loss is not 0%. Sometimes this indicates a severe problem, but in other situations it doesn't indicate any problem whatever. However anything higher than 5% is definitely a problem. If the average round trip time is > 500 ms, there' s possible latency problem. Again, contact your ISP. Limitations of the Ping Tool * Ping is not a good tool for diagnosing intermittent problems. * Good results are reliable, but ?bad results? could be caused by any number of things, and are not necessarily reliable! * Ping uses ICMP, which has low priority, showing speeds that are slower than regular network traffic. Some computers reject ICMP, and therefore pinging, entirely. * When an IP appears between the source and destination in a traceroute command it does *not* mean that that IP must be pingable.
