Question about Computers & Internet
You can reset it to factory with recovery disk.
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios then go to boot option and set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom then it boot with that disk.
Then follow the procedure and delete all partition then create again then format 1 partition then it install windows.
And if you haven't recovery disk.
Then if you have disk to disk recovery then you can do it without disk.
For that again enter in bios with above method then check main that D2D
is enabled then save settings .
Then when you power up the computer press Shift+F2 or ALT+F2 then you find recovery then restore all to factory .
Let me know if you need more assistance.

Hello ther Tommy,
That would mean reformatting the laptop. If you still have the windows installation cd, you can reinstall windows but make sure you have a genuine license.
Also, there could be ways causing the slowdown of your daughter's laptop. Try the following suggestions before doing a reformat.
1. Clear up your computer's cache/cookies. If you are using Internet Explorer 7, click on Tools and Internet Options. On the browsing history click Delete and Delete All button. If you are using Firefox, hold CTRL, SHIFT and Delete from the keyboard. Select all boxes and click Clear Private Data.
2. Defragment your computer. Click Start > (All)Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter and click Defragment. Disk Defragmenter is a tool to increase access speed by rearranging files on your hard disk.
3. Scan your computer with antivirus. I can recommend this free and effective online scan http://eset.com/onlinescan
If all of the 3 above has been done and still no progress, then you can go ahead and reformat the laptop. Should you need futher assistance, please let me know.
Thank you and Good luck!

You can download and burn a disc for this called Linux System Rescue. It will erase everything on hard drive all the way to just bios, then you can reinstall new windows and be like new again. Or right click on c: drive in my computer and format the hard drive. (NTSF)
Just like new.
There is a free registry cleaning program called Eusing registry cleaner you can download and significantly boost performance. Also defragmenting your hard drive helps a little also, but registry cleaner is great. More ram the better too.
