Problems after updating ver3.80

I've recently updated to version 3.80 on my white PSP. Ever since, It says that there is no saved game data and will not let me save a new file. The RSS Channels that I've saved to the memory stick are not displayed anymore. And it will not let me save new ones. Whenever I try, it says "Save failed" and displays a number. In other words, my PSP no longer wants to save anything to the memory stick.

My poor PSP has turned into nothing more than a 200 dollar music player that looks at pictures and plays videos... Help?

Note: I've checked all my files on my computer, and all my game and RSS Channel files are still saved to the memory stick.

Re: Problems after updating ver3.80

Possible solution:

You can try to have your memory stick content backed up to your computer local hard disk, and then do a format for the memory stick from your psp, as well as full reset, (should be found under the setting=>system setting menu) then, copy the backups back to your memory stick.

Give a try and let me know if it works

Hello There, :) i've updated my PSP to version

you wont be able to play .iso files(games in the iso folder) because you updated to Sony's official firmware. but in order to play .iso files again you will have to hack you psp and make sure its running cfw(custom firmware).

I downloaded the update but the pc cannot open the file . the updater is called eboot. i have it in my pc but cannot open it

The file is not supposed to be opened by your PC. You have the transfer the file from your PC to the PSP. To do this, you need a USB cable and you have to plug your PSP into your PC.

    Download procedure
    1. Prepare to save the update data on either system storage or Memory Stick Micro™ (M2)™ media, using one of the following methods:
      • Connect the PSP® system to the PC using the USB cable
      • Connect a commercially available Memory Stick USB reader/writer to the PC
      • Use the Memory Stick slot on a PC
    2. Create a folder for the update data on either system storage or Memory Stick™ media.

Using your PC, create a folder named "PSP". Within the "PSP" folder, create a folder named "GAME". Within the "GAME" folder, create a folder named "UPDATE". (Folder names must be in all uppercase letters).
    3. Download the update data for the PSP-N1000 (PSP®go) series and save it in the "UPDATE" folder created in step 2.

You must save the downloaded data as noted in these instructions. If you do not save in the correct location and with the filename shown below, the system will not recognize the update data.
    • Location: Save in the "UPDATE" folder
    • Filename: Save as filename "EBOOT.PBP"

How can i update the firmware of my psp in firmware 6.00

    1. Get the firmware upgrade data. You can get one on the official PSP website[1]. When clicking Download Now, remember to Save it, not open it. The file name should be EBOOT.PBP Save somehwhere where you can access it easily e.g. Desktop, My Documents, C:\. 180px-psp_619.jpg magnify-clip.png
    2. Plug in your USB cable that you have bought or had to your PC or Computer (same thing). On your PSP you should go to System Settings and on the 2nd from the top press (X) on USB Connect. On your computer it should say something like New Hardware detected USB Mass Storage Device. In My Computer there should be something named "Removable Disk"
    3. Click on the Removable Disk and inside there might (might not be) be a folder named "PSP". Click on the PSP folder to go inside of it and inside the PSP there might be a subfolder named "GAME".
    4. Inside the GAMES folder, create a new folder and name it UPDATE in caps, no spaces. Inside that UPDATE folder drag and drop that EBOOT.PBP that you downloaded earlier.
      • If the PSP folder and GAME folder are not there, you can just create them. Remember that the folder name MUST be in CAPITAL LETTERS and the the GAMES folder is INSIDE the PSP folder, don't mess this up or your PSP will ignore your folders
    5. "Safely Remove Hardware" -- this should be in your Icon Bar on the Right side of your start bar.
    6. Fully charge your PSP and plug it into the wall. Go to the Games Area; there should be an Icon that says Memory Stick Choose that by Pressing "X" and you'll see PSP Update Version *.** (* meaning what version you've downloaded onto your PSP).
    7. Press PSP Update Version *.**, It'll clear the screen for a few seconds and come back on saying "PSP System Software Version *.**" It has a "Start" option or says that you already have that version. Press the Start if you want to upgrade.
    8. Go through the User Agreement and start the upgrade Process. When it starts, remember not to even touch that PSP. Just leave it alone on the floor, desk , chair, etc.

    [edit]Steps-Method 2
    1. Go to network update, under Settings.
    2. The PSP searches for possible updates.
    3. When the updates come, bypass all agreements etc. by pressing X button.
    4. Let it update in peace.

    [edit]Steps-Method 3
    1. Make sure you have a UMD inserted.
    2. Go to game and choose PSP update.

The problem might be that you used the file name EBOOT.PBP.PBP to save it.Delete the file name you use in saving it on your pc and re-type EBOOT.PBP.

    Games gone after update

Your save game data should be stored in a folder called GAMEDATA in the PSP folder, if they are in a slightly different folder or have moved then make a GAMEDATA folder and cut them all into it. They should then show up in your psp's game data on your psp.

Hope this helps, if not then please provide more details of the situation and I will investigate further for you.
