Question about Acer Aspire 5735 Notebook
I have no image on screen. Except when i press "Fn" & "F6", i see what's on screen briefly (then I see that my OS - Fedora - has started normally). I can't even see initial startup, so I don't think it is OS related.

I think you're trying to output the screen to external monitor right ? So when you press Fn+F6 this will output to external monitor only but if you do it again it will output to both (External and you LCD) and if you repeat the step again you're back to normal.

Change the settings from the display settings panel. (Right click on the desktop and go to display settings)
You should see 2 monitors graphically represented there.
You can make the monitor that is greyed out active by right clicking on the monitor, and selecting active.

Hopefully it is this easy. The Fn and left arrow combination should dim the screen. To brighten the sceen, try Fn and right arrow.
If this does not work, then try other combinations using your Fn key to make sure the Fn key is working.
