Make sure the speakers you are using are powered, which means they have to plug into a power outlet as well as the computer.

On the computer itself, the port will be colored green or a light or lime green.

If you are getting static, sounds like they are just plugged into the wrong port!

If all is proper, then the speaker could be bad.

Hope that helps!

Hi Jamie, Here's an old trick which you may find useful. Take a run down flashlight cell and confirm the wiring to the speakers by holding the earthing line of the speaker cable to the negative and flash the positive side with the feed to the speaker one at a time. With each swipe you will hear a thump from each speaker as you connect and disconnect. In that way you can confirm the cables are the ones you are connecting. Color coding is not always the same. Use a voltage test meter to confirm the constant power and ignition power and don't forget to earth the set once all other connections have been made, Withour an earth it won't work, but you know that anyway. I need help hooking up my system from cable box to old toshiba 52 inch tv does not have hdmi on tv red, green , blue wires i also bought today a sony blue ray player speakers are not working ...

Hello,

Please indicate the brand and model of your receiver, BD player and your speakers. Basically, you just need to connect the cable box and blue ray player to the receiver. The 5.1 speakers should be connected to the blue ray player, then another set of cables from your BD player to your TV. When you want to use the speakers while watching TV, you need to turn on the blue ray player too.

I recently moved from one place to another. My speakers were working fine. I hooked them up to my computer and now there's static sound coming from the speakers nothing else. The wires look in good...

Try another set of speakers on that motherboard. If you still get static then you know the sound chipset on the motherboard is going bad. At that point you can replace the motherboard or buy a sound card that plugs into one of the PCI slots. If you try different speakers and they work then you know the old speakers are bad.

You can connect any HDMI or VGA (15 pin) compatible monitor or TV, almost every monitor has VGA connector or VGA adapter at the end of connector and you can use it.

STATIC IN RIGHT SPEAKER

Generally if it is only one side, the actual speaker has failed. Try connecting headphones, if they are fine than the soundcard (chip) is fine.

This would indicate that the speaker has failed (a lose connection inside can do this as well but that is much more rare).

Horrible Static on both headphones and van speakers when playing

Hi...

The most probable cause it broken solder connections on the headphone/ext speaker jacks.
If you know someone who can solder fine detail parts...have them try.
I dont know what a TV shop would charge but it DOES need fixing
