Question about Honda 6370C - Parallel Power Kit For EU3000i

1 Answer

EU 3000is generator is running rough with Eco Throttle on

Runs rough with eco throttle on, when I turn it off the motor revs up like it's supposed to and seems better but still sputters slightly. If I pull the choke out about half way it gets better. I'm no mechanic but i've changed the oil recently and the spark plug. I cleaned the screen on the spark arrestor as suggested from a similar post. I had an auto mechanic friend look at it and he can't find anything wrong with the motor or carb and his guess is that perhaps it's an electrical problem. It always ran perfect until I changed the oil and then the next time I took it camping is when the problem first started. I'm not sure if an oil change would cause something like this but just wanted to mention that it did happen after.

The air intake system on this unit is highly fine tuned. Make sure all covers including front battery cover, plenums, air intake system is properly installed and that any and all gaskets on doors and covers are not damaged.

Honda 3000is runs great on eco but hesitates and either stops the load source or stops running itself when under load.

Sounds like the throttle control motor is not adjusting the engine speed to compensate for the load. Does the generator rev up to full speed if you turn OFF eco with NO load?
Funny thing, I have one on my workbench that is doing pretty much the same thing. Runs on eco, revs up with eco off with no load, coughs, sputters and dies with a load in either mode. I will update with what I find when I figure it out in the next week or so. Have a new carb on order.

I swapped the carb and it made no difference. Still backfiring (rather dramatically) and won't stay running. I see on some other posts that Valve lash will cause this. It makes total sense as the exhaust valve gap actually tightens as the engine wears which would keep the exhaust valve slightly open when it ain't supposed to be allowing raw fuel to enter the muffler.
With this one I can believe it as it has a ton of hours on it and I know they have never been adjusted.
I will try to get a chance to do it over the weekend and update this post when I do.

When I switched the eco-throttle on my Honda EU1000i, the idle doesn't go down, I replaced the carburetor with a new one (OEM) but the problem is still there. Any suggestions on the problem?

Hard to give adequate answers when it is unknown what year the bike is but if the problem started with the eco throttle replacement it is most likley ypou ahev the wrong pasrt, a defective part or the installation was not done properly.

Yamaha ef 2800 i, fresh fuel, cleaned carb, major surge with eco. switch on, slight search, no load with eco. switch off. near perfect under 75% load. output steady 119.9 to 120.00 volts.

I hope you have not moved the genny from lower to high altitude b cause the carbs of these gen sets are tuned at the sea level and they give their best performence up to 1000 meters or so in altitude from sea level if you hav'nt moved the generator then check the air fuel mix screw on the carb that screw controls the the oxygen supply required inside to burn the appropriate quantity of fuel take a screw driver and adjust by rotating it anticlockwise on idle with eco switch on then put it on 75%load and try adjusting the screw both ways clockwise and anticlockwise with switching the load on and off with eco throttle off you will find a point where the engine will run smooth but mind it the screw has to be moved very slowly either side usualy these problems accur on high altitudes when the oxygen suppy goes less then the jet in the carb is to be reduced and air fuel mix has to be adjusted which is called re jetting of the carb You say you have cleaned the carb may be accidently while cleaning the air fuel mix screw might got disturbed just check

I have a Honda EU 2000i generator. With eco switch on or off the generator revs up every few seconds. If I turn the choke to half it seems to almost get rid of the problem. What can be causing this?

starving for fuel. the generator will always rev up when it is under a load or about to run out of gas. there will be a few adjustment screws on the carb... one for air and one for fuel. try increasing the fuel a quarter turn and see how that does

My generator eu3000 will see its third winter in Western Washington and it does not start with the key. My wife needs the generator to run an oxygen machine, so the key start is critical. When I try the...

The EU3000 is a gel-pack (spill-proof) battery. Using a 10mm wrench or socket, remove the four (4) screws that hold the end cover on the machine.
Use a voltage meter and test the battery at rest (no load, not running). You should see 12 or higher volts DC. Record the voltage and then start the unit manually. Turn the ECO throttle "OFF" so the unit revs up to full RPM. You should see 14 or higher volts DC to verify that the charging system is OK.
The conclusion:
If the 12V test shows less than 10VDC, replace battery.
If the 14V test shows less than 12VDC, have a HONDA AUTHORIZED shop diagnose it for you.

Hope this helps.
