Re: tv will not program in digital signals; only anolog...

Any TV hooked up to a cable or satellite box can only "see" one channel...the set-top box (STB) converts the channel you are watching to (usually) Ch. 3 or 4. With cable you can split the input if your TV has 2 RF inputs, with a dish that won't work.

That's why the TV stays on Ch 3 and the STB changes to whatever you want to watch.

My tv does not recognise 90hd, 76. it goes 72,73,then 91, 92,93, 94, 99,I try auto or manual tune the stations do not show. also have digital aerial connected directly to tv and tv shows no signal

Hi Jonathan

Sounds like you are in Oz ,,, like me

Not sure where you are compared to your signal & it's strength
Digital antennas are really no different than the previous analog tv version. Slight Freq Difference. Just a ploy to sell more antennas. I'm still using my old analog antenna and I pick up all my channels. 7,9,10,sbs,abc.
Occasionally I get a weak signal that causes pixelation. Usually when storms are near.

I do have an Antena Amplifier located in my TV Junction Box near the AC Power Junction Box in my Garage. (Rather than the Mast Head Amp that is on antenna pole).
This provides an easy assess point for TV & Phone cables.
There are various signal booster amps available.
Mine is shown below.
But there are others that could be located behind your TV.
Depending where you are.
Main Cities are usually a horizontal polarised antenna,
Country are vertical antenna. Most people don't notice.
This helps to keep city areas from interfering with small country towns. Keep this in mind if you travel with a caravan.

You could try a simple antenna cable to the TV with open bare wires at the other end with a couple of rods attached.
Just to prove whether it's your roof antenna or wiring.
Rabbits ears will usually pick up enough of a signal to prove the point.
Unfortunately with digital you will have to retune the TV to see if it's getting a signal. Auto Retune. As there is either a signal or none. Unlike the old days of seeing part of a ghost signal.

Then you will know if your TV & it's tuner is working OK.

There is an App I have on my iPhone which helps.
It indicates what direction & distance the transmitters are from your location. AntennaMate

Hope this Info Helps

What are you running for a signal. Are you putting a digital signal into an anolog tv? Are you coming out of a cable box?

TV displays "no signal" with every input type we try. The only thing that works is the DVD. I even tryed it on a cable cord that was working from another TV

hello are you using a digital antenna, cable or satelite reception? you need to run your "set up" and scan for channels either automatically scan or manual scan, recomend a auto scan for all channels both digital and anolog, these tv will scan and save or store the channels but you need to run a channel scan first,
(even if your using a cable box or sat box)
back when we had the older anolog sets you could just plug it in and watch but with these new digital circuts need to scan and store the channels in before you can watch the broadcasts,, try that let me know what happens. hope this helps

Problem with digital tv

The Antenna may be in a weak signal area heres a quick cheap fix
Get a Freeview Box and connect it via SCART LEAD to your tv, if the Box picks up a good signal then your tuner may be very weak..
You may want to try a BOOSTER to the TV first, and if that fails go with an external freeview. My neighbor has a 42 and the freeview box WITHOUT an antenna attached resolves all the give that a try. I have a goodmans too with a slow tuner and I have to retune it sometimes even though it gets a good signal from the antenna. I will be getting an external tuner freeveiw box.

All we are getting is a pixilated screen and no sound. Dvd's play normally

OK. This should be simple. If you are using a TV with a built in digital tuner like all the HDMI ( High Defintition Media Interface) flatscreens then you probably need to go through your set up menu on your Digital TV and select Initial Setup / Channel Input / Cable / Satellite if coming directly from a dish on 75 Ohm Coax / or Cable if coming directly from the outside 75 Ohm coax with analog signal. ( When I say DIRECTLY, I mean you are not going through any boxes and changing or passing the signal). All satellite direct connects are digital and all satellite converter boxes have multiple out puts these days. There is an HDMI output for high def and low def analogl to digital (A/D) signals coverted within the TV, sometimes there is a DVI or even a USB out put connector...and there is a 75 Ohm coaxial RF cable connection for all the old schoolers who do not have a widescreen digital TV. RF means Radio Frequency and uses Radio Frequency Channels 3 and 4 at the bottom of the RF band around 56 MHz to which any TV with an Analog Tuner can use. In the old days this is what was used for the connection to the TV from the cable boxes because our TVs did not have the capability of decoding analog pay channel signals, hence the little black boxes sold and used ONLY by cable thieves and not any of us here on fixya. For starters, let's make sure you are using your high def, dvi. or some format of digital It sounds like your TV is set up to search and code digital signals but is looking for the wrong carrier frequencies, meaning it is either looking for decoded digital satellite box signals, digital broadcast ( New Digital TV received via an Antenna). Once your TV scans for channels in the cable mode they will be memorized and available on your channel up / down keys and Favorites. (FYI t will scan for both digital and analog channels on antenna mode). Repost if you have troubles or refer to your users manual.

My philips lcd digital tv says I am recieveing analog signals from a digital direct tv sat. How do I get my tv to change to accept digital signals?

First verify that the direct TV satellite box is set to receive and display digital stations. If you old set on the sat was analog, the box may not have been reset. You may have to contact you satellite provider. Next you will have to go to the TV menu and auto program/scan in the stations. This should pick up all the stations.

Not picking up Digital signal from box but can receive it analog

So many factors could be affecting your reception. Keep in mind that the digital signal is all or nothing, either you have a signal or you don't, with the regular signal you can pull in weak signals but you can't with digital. Your converter box when turned on will probably not pick up the standard signal. The distance from the digital signal and the direction the antenna is facing also will affect your signal.
Ok with that said you will have to clear the path between the broadcast signal and your antenna, I know this will be a chore but take your antanna out of the attic and put it outside as a test only, this dosnt mean you cant have it in the attic it will just be a signal test.
Once the antenna is moved, from the menu scan for channels and see what you get. Let me know and I can help further.
