It sounds like the thermostat is loose and needs to be adjusted or replaced. Leave this to a professional if you don't know what you're doing. So many fires are caused by baseboard heaters.

The heater wont heat up no more

My first thought is that your radiator is low on antifreeze. there may not be enough in there to circulate properly. sometimes the heater will warm up if that is the condition, and you race the engine a couple times and feel warm air coming out for a few seconds. other problems may be (in probable order) you have a plugged heater hose. this can happen any time after 80,000 miles or so. another may be your water pump. that should last 100K miles or more. and finally a vacuum problem where the dampers in your dashboard will not move leaving one setting on for example you have defrosters but nothing else. that is of course if your fan blower is operating. warning. if you want to check the radiator. first check the plastic overflow tank under the hood to see if there is antifreeze in that. if not WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD remove the cap on the radiator and fill it first, then fill the overflow tank to the line. recap the radiator then run till warm, and check heat. after that keep an eye on the ground when you park to be sure you don't have a coolant leak

Tip

Vent free heater tune up

An ODS space heater is a nice way to keep warm on the nastiest winter nights. It does not require power either so when the lights go out the ODS space heater keeps on truckin. This vent -free system is used on most fireplaces and space heaters today. A heater/fireplace using the vent-free system sits idle in summer months and dust gets a chance to accumulate in the pilot safety. After lighting the pilot and starting the heater all will be fine for a few minutes then the pilot goes out and heat fades away. The thermocouple for these is a superior grade one that is much costlier to buy than an ordinary t-couple. Lots of folks buy a new thermocouple only to realize that didn't fix the prob. Well I have the solution. I took some photos:

Each year just before the cold season you should at least vacuum the grates for flame unity and blow the cobwebs out the pilot to avoid having problems. Hope this helps someone.
A nice video from Micheal Holigan which explains how it works.

The heater stop working a couple days after i added a radiator cleaner and the heater stop blowing warm air today, is there a fues to replace or did the heater valve get clogged

If the fan wont blow air at all then it is a fuse. If the fan works and the car is warm you have a clog somewhere. you could try pulling a heater hose off when the car is cold to check for flow.

I have a DV-55 direct vent... Blower kicks on for about 30 sec after it lights then goes of and continues to cycle this way then finally stays on

Hi,
That is normal...especially if the air is pretty cool when it starts... the air cools the heat exchanger too much and it cycles till everything gets warm... nothing to worry about.. :-)

I drive a 2004 f450 schoolbus. it has interior hear to the rear of the bus, but the front doesn't seem to get anything but warm air. it also takes the heaters about 50 mins. to get any heat at all. once...

check to see if you have air trapped in teh cooling system first. If yes, burp it out by leaving the radiator cap loose and run engine until warm and see if air purges.

Are you sure gauge goes to NORMAL? If not, theremostat is suspect.

Finally, check to see if blend door in heater plenum travels the full distance. It oculd be stuck in the middle. Also, check to see if both heater hoses are hot going into and out of the heater core.

drain your system and check all your valves,if in dout get an engineer out, dont risk it.
refill the system and put it on low.

Warm water only

You can eliminate the shower control knob possibility by turning on your hot water anywhere else in the house. If you get hot water in other places, then it could be the knob causing it. A substantial lime buildup in the tank can also cause poor heat transfer from the elements to the water.
