Re: linux

I have the same webcam, and works by default on Ubuntu 7.10. In order to use it, intall either Cheese from the repository, or some other piece of software.

Re: linux

I got it to work plug'n'play on ubuntu, all I did was run up the skype 2.0 beta and it detected it. Though since philips seems to deny that this camera exists I'm going to take it back.

How to install my veo stingray into ubuntu

Many users are switching over to the Ubuntu operating system, which is a type of Linux distribution, in order to work on their computers. Often people will need to use their webcam in order to meet with others online. Fortunately, you can install most webcams onto Ubuntu, and they will work just as well as they do on Windows or Mac systems

Set up the webcam in a place where you will be able to see your face on the screen. Connect the webcam to your computer. Ubuntu should automatically recognize your camera. Test your camera by using Cheese. Open the console and type "Sudo Apt-Get Install Cheese" then press "Enter." Cheese should then install onto your computer. Run Cheese. If your webcam appears and the image comes in fine, your webcam was configured properly. webcam in ubuntu Linux UVC driver and tools

Use with Ubuntu linux?

Unfortunately the Veo Advanced Connect ( model 642v ) ( ID 0x0545 : 0810 ) has some proprietary firmware inside on the chip , and so far there has been limited success in making a proper driver for it.
You could wait and see if some one does get a driver out for it but I have been looking for 2 years and not had much luck. I would recommend trying to get another web cam that is compatable with linux, or that already has drivers available.
