The camera will not turn on even though batteries are new.

Hi Kris - If the camera worked before changing the batteries, but now it doesn't; check the batteries for proper insertion. If just one battery was installed incorrectly, the camera will not power up. Also, check the charge of the batteries. If even a single dead battery was included in the mix of new batteries, the camera will not power up either.

If all these conditions check out ok, the problem may be related to defective hardware (power switch, lens, etc.). When the camera is powered on, it goes through a quick self test. If any of these self tests fail, the camera shuts off immediately. This will often require that the camera be evaluated professionally. Hopefully, you'll find the problem is battery related.

Lens stuck in the out postion

Hi,

Did you try taking out the batteries out for a few hours to reset the camera? Did you eliminate the possibility that the batteries can be the cause of your problem?

My camera shuts off when i try to zoom.

Hello,

Here are the steps:

1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged

battery/batteries into your camera.

2. Clean the battery contacts.

a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from

your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft,

clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera

3. Without the memory card, turn on your camera.

If issue persists, call 1.800.235.6325 for repair.

Thanks.

It was working one minute then the next it kept shutting off

John,

Generally, this is a battery issue. Check the battery and make sure that all contacts are clean (inside the camera and on the battery itself). You can do this by using a pencil eraser to clean the contacts. If this doesn't work, try charging the battery for a full 24 hours. If this doesn't work, take the battery to a location that services batteries. If the battery checks out, go into the camera and look for the reset button, which is similar to those located on phones or other electronic devices. This will set the camera back to factory specs and may clear the issue up. If this doesn't work, take the camera to a repair shop, or, if it's still under warranty, send it back to Kodak for evaluation. Generally, if the camera is under warranty, this is free.

Vivicam 8400

I have a ViviCam 8400 and have the same problem UNLESS I buy Duracell Power Pix or Energizer Titanium batteries. These cost more than the regular grade AA batteries, but when I used brand new regular batteries, the camera would turn on for 2 seconds then turn right off. Titanium or Power Pix batteries make the camera work fine. And, because they are made for digital media, they do allow you to use the camera for longer periods of time.

Camera Wont turn on and blue light flashes

The possible answer is that batteries are past thier best now and even a 'full' charge is not delivering enough power. treat your self to new batteries.

We had similiar problems with ours until we started making sure the camera was kept warm when it was shut off. For some reason, it and the batteries don't like the cold...we were able to extend the battery life if we kept it covered when we weren't using it.
