Question about Roper RS22AQXKQ Side by Side Refrigerator
The fidge stop cooling 2 days ago but freezer still working. i tried to look in back 2 tell you whats up come to find out theres no way to take back panel off. the fan is running in frige area just not cooling. unit is about 5 yrs old.
cooling unit gradually quit working it's more than likely due to Hydrogen diffusion. This process
is not easy to understand.Hydrogen, having atomic # 1,is the lightest element there is.Almost all absorption cooling units are charged with it.Actually Helium works good too,and it is inert while Hydrogen is extremely flammable and burns with an invisible flame.A lot of older cooling units suffer from this problem and the manufacturers won't tell you about it.The Hydrogen actually diffuses through the pores of the steel tubing. There is no leak in the cooling unit per se.The pressure in the cooling unit may be down about 50 or 60 pounds from what it should be around 330 PSI.The Ammonia will now boil off at a higher pressure than it should.Due to partial pressure law,the Ammonia only sees it's own vapor pressure not the total Hydrogen pressure. So when the Liquid Ammonia boils off in the upper evaporator,it boils off at a higher temperature than it should. This also starves the lower evaporator of liquid Ammonia, and cooling only occurs where liquid Ammonia is boiling off. Please also go to: www.marvinspropanerefrigerators.com

Those are the small radiator like assemblies either under the unit or in the back. Use a long brush if under the unit.
