Try putting foam pads or the rubber pads they sell underneath the feet.

The washer was working great for most the year, all of a sudden it seems to be off balance and now on the spin cycle it vibrates so much that the washer itself creeps across the floor. the clothes are...

A few things I did and it solved my problem of the same nature.
First:
Run a cycle with nothing in the washer. Some models have have a water tank on the outside of the drum that fills to balance the drum. Running a cycle without anything in the drum may allow this small tank to fill back up.

Second:
Grasp the agitator at the top and near the base and move the whole drum around side to side and up and down. This may realign the the skid pads with the drum feet (not the terms that I remember from talking to a repair man I know but doing this may help)

Third:
There may be springs that help keep the drum balanced and centered. If one of these has broken. This would cause the same problem.
Locate them on the inside of the cabinet near the sides and attached to the bottom of the cabinet. (that's where they were for my washer).
Mine were fine so that wasn't the problem.
The first two items fixed it for me.

Hope This Helps!

My Frigidaire Affinity dryer has started vibrating more and more during operation. Is the motor going bad or is there another problem?

Hi

Try the following to reduce the noise--

Washer is not resting firmly on floor. Move washer so it rests firmly on floor. Adjust leveling legs. NOTE: Some shaking of the washer is normal without moving across the floor.
• Shipping bolts and foam blocks have not been removed during installation. Check out the installation instructions for removing shipping bolts and foam blocks.
• Wash load unevenly distributed in drum. Stop washer and rearrange wash load.

Please post back for any further assistance.

Matag washer travels across the floor.

Velcro is a silly idea, what you want it to rest the washer on a rubber membrane as this will absorb all vibrations and kinetic energy thus stopping it from moving.

http://www.gkacoustics.com/anti_vibration_rubber_mats.htm this place sells them (aswell as other places) Neoprene Rubber and MLC Closed Cell Rubber is your best bet.

Hope this helps

Hello calmtouch,

You said,
When in spinning cycle, the barrel begins to move all over banging the washer across the floor. I don't even know what to look for.
Help.

sounds like the coupling connecting the tub to the transmission may be loose and throwing the wash tub out of rotation causing the banging and walking washer.
Bless You
