The valve is either open or shut. To adjust the flame, you must open or shut the air ports until just the tip of the flame is white.

Where are the gas pressure tabs located in the honeywell vr 8304k 4822 gas valve ? This is the manufacturer's reference number. The pressure tabs are to read/adjust the gas inlet and outlet pressure

being gas and you are not a qualified gas fitter, the sensible thing to do is to get a gas fitter in to adjust /fix the unit
of course the unsafe thing to do is to try and do it yourself

How to adjust pilot lite on a furnace

Select thermostat to off. Take front upper panel off of furnace. Looking at gas valve you should see a flat head or straight slot screw. This is the cap to access the adjustment. Look at the body of the gas valve real close. You may need to put on your glasses or use magnifying glass. It should say pilot in very small raised letters. Remove the cap. Look down into access hole and you will see the adjustment screw. It is a nylon screw so be careful not to strip it out. Place the correct screw driver, should be a small phillips or straight head. Turn gas valve to pilot and depress. Light pilot. While holding down, adjust nylon screw clockwise until flame envelopes 3/8 to 1/2 inch around thermocouple. Replace cap. Select heat and verify pilot stays lit. If the flame doesn't stay lit most likely your thermocouple is defective. You can purchase at your local hardware or Home Depot. Length doesn't matter. The thermocouple is heated and sends a DC signal back to the gas valve. There is another screw cap on the gas valve that adjusts gas pressure. Do not try to adjust the gas pressure to the gas valve because you need a special instrument (manometer) to adjust pressure. This device measures the water colume of the gas. A qualified technician would adjust this to 3.5" WC. for natural gas or 11" for propane.

A.O. Smith promax electronic controller is not working

Question is not clear.
Do you want instructions to replace valve or want a service manual to test out the parts?
Open following link to help identify gas valve and download possible service manual that applies to that gas valve.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-adjust-temperature-on-water-heater.html#intelli

It is usually recommended that a professionally trained person replace the gas valve.
If you have the intellivent gas valve, then it usually has identifying marks on side of valve, or call AO Smith with the model and serial number from label on side of tank.
Turn off gas and disconnect gas line from side of valve.
The manifold tube and wires are disconnected.
The gas valve unscrews counterclockwise.
If you want more details as the project requires, add a comment with specifics and that sends email that I will answer.

Re model737AN--the spark from igniter appears to be too far in advance[2 or so seconds] off gas valve.--- any way to adjust this?

spark should be ahead of gas valve sensor should pick up ignition sequence open gas valve and ignition accurs if gas comes on first combustion chamber fills with gas then ignition not a good look if you still have a house.

Adjust pilot light

Adjust? What do you mean? The flame relationship to the T-couple? Or is the flame too low?
Low flame can be adjusted on some gas valves but mostly it requires special tools and knowledge of the gas valve. Most times it's a sign the GV is going.

Rheem gas valve for furnance

It is intentional. It's a slow close valve. There is no adjustment. You can usually replace it with an instant open/close valve.

Kenmore gas range

You need to turn the orifice on the safety valve down (clockwise) and this will make the flame smaller. The orifice is what the burner for the oven sits on at the bottom. The valve is # 214 on this diagram. http://www3.sears.com/imaging/ImagePageJava.shtml?productTypeID=0124111&brandID=0582&modelDesc=GAS%20RANGE&modelNumber=3627331890&documentID=10033508&documentTypeID=PLDM&documentClassCode=PM&titleType=BURNER%20SECTION&titleID=00001&. Hope this helps.
