Question about Vivitar ViviCam 3695 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Unable to upload photos to computer

My Model 3695 had been working fine, but has suddenly lost the ability to upload photos stored in the Memory to my computer(s). The photos are displayed on the LED Screen on the back of the Camera. However, the computers (and even the one at the local Rite Aid) do not recognise that there are photos there. I tried re-installing the Software, but that did not help. All other Features of the Camera function without any problems.

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

When camera turned on screen is white and unable to see any pictures or icons. also unable to upload photos to computer

If both problems occurred at the same time, the system clock has probably failed. This would prevent the display from working and the camera would not synchronize with the computer.
If this camera has no removable memory card (as most kids camera don't) you won't be able to recover the photos without having the camera repaired and perhaps no then.
You might try emailing Vtech and asking about the cost of such a repair and if the stored photos can be retrieved.

Insalling vivcam 3695

Hi. I had the same problem, unable to load photos to computer using vista. I stumbled on to the exact order of steps that worked. Like everyone else i tried loading drivers from the original cd and downloading from vivitar but it didnt work. Then after re-reading the manual for the 45th time i noticed something different. This is what i did that worked. 1: Turned the control knob to playback. 2: THEN turned the camera on. 3: Plugged in the usb cable. 4: Then a menu came up on the camera display that had never appeared before; "mass storage device/pc cam" 5: I toggled to "mass storage device" and pressed select on the camera. 6: Immediately my computer recognized the device and a window came up that said"loading (or locating) software" 7: After just a moment the import menu came up asking if i wanted to import photos, I clicked import and they uploded just like that! Tried it three times it has worked each time. ......I dont know if trying to load drivers first made a difference or not..... Remember to use the disconnect device icon in the bottom tray. Post back if this works for you. Good luck!

Computer Downloading

Hi.
I am experiencing the exact same problem with my 3695 (as described in my Post on here). It was working fine for a long time.. and then didn't.
I returned the unit to Vivitar in California, and they assured me that the Camera is fine.
Sorry to see that you are having the same problem, but glad to know that I'm not imagining things. :)
Hope that you get an answer to your problem soon - mostly because it will mean that I get an answer to mine (just kidding!)
Best of luck.
