Verify that your pilot is staying on if you have a pilot.
Some may have electronic ignition.

Turned off power at breaker to water heater to fix a water leak under house. Turned power back on and no hot water..do I have to hit reset or something?

If it is a Gas Water Heater, you need to relight the pilot. If it is electric, I have never seen a reset on a tank. There is just the single or double element and a thermostat.

Check the breakers again, sometimes they look closed but they are slightly away. Pull the breaker on the heater all the way off and then all the way on until it clicks.

Lights but turns off in about a minute

It might have a built in thermostat that will light the heater when room temp falls below a certain temp. It should then relight and warm things back up. As long as the pilot stays lit it should work just fine.

My Atwood GC10A-3E will come on the first time I flip the switch. After that it will not relight until I turn it off and back on. When it relights it sounds like an explosion in the tube. I feel it is...

Sounds like some adjustments are needed. Air shutter for one, and ignitor/electrode. Have you by chance observed outside with cover open when it tries to re-light? My guess is that it is sparking/trying to ignite, but adjustments are needed for proper ignition. A good cleaning of burner tube, electrode, and proper adjustment of electrode & air mixture should cure your problem.

Pilot won't stay on

Burners don't have anything to do with the problem of pilot not lighting. Is the problem that flame will not 'stay' lit? Or you can't even get a flame to ignite? If former: possible bad pilot generator or bad gas valve. If latter, possible bad gas valve or no fuel to ignite.

Heater does not turn on

If you have a gas hot water heater that won't stay on, check to see if pilot light is out and relight it if it is. If you have an electric hot water heater that won't stay on, then you should have an electrician check the wiring.

NO GAS FLAME

First, is the PILOT burning? If so, is the heater Control Knob turned from PILOT to the ON position? If you have any other gas appliances in the home are they working? If they're not, your gas has been turned off. Contact your gas provider.

If the other gas appliances are working and you answered No to the first two questions, you will need to relight the pilot. After the pilot lights and holds for 1 minute, turn the Control Knob to the ON Position. Turn the thermostat up and the burner(s) should light.

What is the best way to leave a garage heater that will not be used for several days?Gas valve on position, pilot lit, main AC power off ?

Keep the pilot on, it really should not use much gas and are pains to relight sometimes. If you don't have to worry about things freezing, just turn the gas valve to the pilot setting. If freezing is an issue, turn down thermostat to 45 degrees.

Vulcan 300 Freeloader Gas Water Heater

I assume it has a pilot. Try blowing out the pilot area with compressed air or CO2. Then relight the pilot.

Dust can cover the pilot combustion air inlet and cause it to pull away from the safety generator or thermocouple. Its called an oxygen depletion arrangement on some space heaters. I assume your Domestic Water Heater has this setup as well. Even if not the thermocouple is not getting all then heat from the flame. If this doesn't work get back to me here. We'll try 1 more thing.

If this helps you please grade me accordingly. GOOD LUCK
