By "budget suites" are you meaning you are at a motel of some sort and trying to connect your PS3? If so, did they give you a Network Name to connect to (SSID) and a Network Key (password)? If not it could be an open (password-free) network if your PS3 found the network. I think this is caused from your new ps3 not having the connection to your wireless box, try inputting the wireless key(back of the wireless box) into your ps3 on Network Settings. Hope this helps.
its your wireless signal you must not have any obstruction between the playstation and the wireless router. walls especialy older ones cause interfearance of signals due to concreat or thick cement on the walls or your routers signal is just to weak try a stronger router with long range capabilities those have more watts to transmit then the standard $30-$60 dollar ones
To connect to the Internet you need decide what type of service you want/need.
1. You need to decide how to connect to the Internet, by DSL, or cable.
2. You need to select Internet Service Provider and select a download plan hat suits you needs and budget.
3. You need to decide how you want to connect your laptop to the Internet, either by a network cable or by wireless connection.
When you select the ISP and tell them your laptop model and what you require, they will advise you hat equipment you need etc.
Hmm lets see. First try connecting ps3 through eithernet. Since you have not mentioned that, i figure that it works. Do you have a WAP protection on router? Some gadgets dont like to run into the walls sort of speak. Well to try the wireless just go to the network menu on your ps3 and look for your signal in the establish connection tab. See if that works

Assuming the media test works (So the cable/wireless connections are
OK) then it's possible that you're out of available IP addresses in the
router. It shouldn't be a problem (Most router configs allow for over
250 IP addresses), but it might only have limited leases.
Try switching everything off (Except for the router), restart the
router and then try the PS3. That should rule out a problem with DHCP
