Your amp has gone into protect mode. If its been like this for a while its likely one of the fuses on the amp is blown, to check this unplug the power wire and inspect each fuse in the side of the amp, if one's bad then just replace it with one of the same amp rating. If it hasn't worked for only a few minutes you probably just overheated your amp and it will work again after it has cooled.

Take it step wise.
Unplug the inputs and outputs from the amp (be sure to mark the wires so you can hook them back up), leaving only the ground, +12, and remote wire hooked up. Now, turn it on. If the amp light goes red, the amp is broken. If it goes green, turn if off, plug in the speakers, then turn it on. if it's red, its a speaker problem, if green, do the same with the inputs, and you'll have your answer.
SOURCE: red light comes on and amp quits working
it is shutting down to protect it self.you either have a short in your wiring or your speakers are wired at an ohm that the amp can not handle.mke sure that they are not wired wrong like + to - is it getting hot?
SOURCE: red protection light wont turn 2 green no matter
Hello mcis43fan,
The protection circuit can be activated by shorted or grounded wiring or it can be caused by a defect in the amp itself.
First, disconnect all wires except power, ground and the remote turn-on lead and see if the amp powers up normally. If it still goes into protection, the amp is defective, most likely shorted outputs and needs repair or replacement. If the amp powers up normally, test the other wiring for shorts and grounds. You can reconnect them one at a time to determine which one is causing the problem.
Hope this helps.
Testimonial: "i found that the amp has a problem internally "
SOURCE: I bought a MTX Terminator amp and the light is red
all depends on that amp... if there was an issue it wouldnt work, and the light would be by a protect symbol... if its just red next to the power symbol i say no issue.
