I love the 1050 i take it on my harley and bring it home instll the pictures in my computer or print them with my printer / but i can't get the time & date to not print / i know how it won't do it. can you suggest anything.

what operating system are you using
win xp and win 7 will have dropped out the printer driver so you will have to download it from the dell web site

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your new HP printer. Before we do anything - did you remove the tape from the cartridge before you put it into the printer? A common error. Check this now.

The first thing to do is open your 1050 software (control panel/printers) and run a maintenance procedure. Search through the several tabs to get to the maintenance or cleaning cycles. After you perform the cleaning, print a test page. If there is no improvement in the print, go to the next step.

I suggest you delete the printer from your system and reinstall the driver. Here is how: First, go to www.hp.com/suppport (you may have to select a country), find your device listing and download the latest drivers available for the Operating System you are using. Save to your desktop.

Open the Control Panel - find the printer folder - delete the 1050. Turn your computer off, unplug the printer data cord from your computer and unplug the printer power cord from the wall. Turn on your computer. Run the software you downloaded and follow the instructions which will appear on the screen. When you are instructed to plug the printer in ... remember to first plug the power cord in and wait for a minute before you plug in the data cord.

I don't have a solution, but just the same problem. It won't print correctly unless refilled with a lot of ink (HP Deskjet 1050).

I solved this problem by pressing "Control N" to bring up a new label. Works fine that way.
This is the answer Brother gave when I called them:

No you can't print. You need printer icon to operate.
You can try follow steps.
go to device manager ,   expand Universal Serial Bus (USB),  right click on USB Composite Device, Uninstall it. Reboot your computer. You will get a printer icon, 
and you can start printing without AIO Home center.

The date information is not part of the picture itself but accompanies it as separate data. The computer "system" preparing the picture for printing takes the date information and optionally (I assume) places it on the print. To do the same thing at home you require photo editing software that provides the same facility. There may of course be cameras that offer an embedded date option - perhaps others have come across one.
