I have Windows 7 32bit and a 6200 512 AGP video card. My motherboard has 8X capability and set up properly in the bios. I have downloaded the latest Nvidea drivers for the card and they installed OK. When...

@rick_pere159

The reason for this is that your AGP video card only support DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0 (pixel shader and it's operating at 2133 MB/s max - this is how fast it can fill up pixels in a video-game). The reason Windows is rating it low is because Windows tests your card on how many pixel it can shade in a 3-D graphics environment - since VGA operates in a parallel simultaneous transmission, it can only occupy 1 lane with a transfer rate of 2133MB/s at max - which is not bad with a subscore rating of 2.5 which is usually sufficient in the desktop graphics and 3?D graphics categories. In order for you to get a 3.0 and above rating for the video card, you must have a GPU that supports D3D (Direct 3D) v10.0, and pixel shader model 4.0.

Take note that the higher clock speed and pixel shader version of your video card, that faster it will get in 3D acceleration - thus higher video card rating.

Hope this information helps.

I want a compatible video card for my pc

This sounds like your computer may be several years old and the hardware a little outdated. It will depend on the game since today's latest games require not only 3d-acceleration but super fast acceleration as given by "NVIDIA" or "ATI"'s latest graphic cards.

If you are running a relatively simple game, you need to see if your computer uses which type of graphic card connector.

In the old days it was PCI, then came AGP and later PCI Express.

What the above will tell you is which 3d graphic card type to buy. You can get a graphic card at newegg.com or lots of other places varying in speed and capacity.

3d graphic card

It should support any AGP video card, you will need a minimum
Video: 128MB 3D DirectX 9.0c-compatible video card
To play that game there are alot of choices and all mostly a matter of opinion.

An example of what would be better than minimum requirements at an affordable price.Click HERE

Please i am having Gateway Laptop 600 ygr with graphic card ATI Radeon 7500. I want to improve its 3d performance by running grahics more than 64MB or improving with acceleratedx. Thanks frank

Unfortunately with this model laptop the graphics card is not upgradeable. If you are attempting to do 3D graphics you will want a higher end laptop with a higher end processor and video card. For high end laptops that will perform much better for this use I would check out http://www.alienware.com/ for their line of higher end laptops.

Graphics upgrade

Hi Brian,

First, can you look on the back of your neighbor's PC and get the exact model #? Also, upon boot, can you also get the BIOS manufacturer and its date?

If the BIOS is not recognizing the newer video card, it might need an upgrade, if one is available. I would check the DELL site:
http://support.dell.com/support/

Upon reboot, listen for system beeps and look them up here:
http://bioscentral.com/

Does the newer graphics card show up under CONTROL PANEL > DEVICES?

If this Dell PC is as old as you say, can I assume it is still running Windows ME? If so, was Universal Plug and Play ever installed - check http://support.microsoft.com/kb/262458?

Due to the ages of all this gear, you'll likely have to install device drivers for the "8Mb 3D card" but you will first need the BIOS to recognize it.

if it is a onboard video then surely it won't work. onboard video does not support high graphics and direct 3d.
