i have bought the computer, Acer Aspire L320. but i can't install on it. when tring to install xp can't see hard disk partition. but it can detect the HDD in bios.
L320 Aspire is a fantastic computer. Its only flaw is the pre installed Vista. I have acquired a 64 bit xp pro full version.
when I try to install it the hard drive is not recognized and the install instantly fails. How do I install my ew software on the computer. As usual the computer did not come with a Vista CD so I have no vista software to load.
anyone know where to get xp audio drivers for axer l320?

I am trying to uninstall Vista and reinstall Windows XP on an Acer L320. System will not recognise C: drive as valid for Fixboot or format although BIOS suggests that is the HDD.
you can set the partitions in f-disk on the start up disk of windows 98, reset partitions to 32, format c: drive, take out disk and put in windows 98 cd. and restart computer. your done. windows 98 cd will install. your up and running. please give me a fixya rateing. Thanks farren

I`ve installed a 1 TB hard drive on the Acer L320 and had the same problem. It`s in BIOS as a 1TB drive, so should install on the Acer. NO , In Vista it can`t see he drive.
Hack which works !!!!!
Partition the drive first on a second computer. The First partition last than 400 GB ? , I only use 100 GB for my first partition.

you have to use N-lite program, so you will burn a windows cd INCLUDING the hard disk's driver. This is what N-lite usually does. after trying installation with the new win cd, you'll se results

Well, detecting the hard disk and seeing the partition are two completely different things. A partition is a portion of your disk that has been set aside from the rest of your hd in the file allocation table. You must create a partition (using the tool included in the install disk) to be able to install the operating system on the hard drive.
