Question about Garmin nuvi 205 GPS Receiver
I have a Garmin nuvi 205 mounted to the above over head console in my vehicle, at first I was worried about the receiver picking up the signal with it mounted there. It worked fine for about four weeks and now I started having trouble last week, not sure if I’m losing signal or what. With no route entered in it shows me driving where I am and the road I am on. While driving the screen changes to a large coverage area and the map is green. It stays that way for awhile then changes back showing the road I’m on. It changes back and forth. At first I thought I was losing signal but the speed I’m going still shows and changes as I change speeds and my directions still shows and changes. If I lost signal it doesn’t seem these things would still work. Also if I have a route entered the receiver works fine.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: my garmin nuvi 205 quit talking
I have a 750. I went to settings, language and restored the defaults. The Voice was blank when I went to that screen. I am not sure if the 205 has the language setup or not, but this should solve other Garmin problems. And as a bonus, if you want to solve the problems with the US, Fire Congress check out http://FireCongress.org

I am very sorry to hear that you are having problems with the unit. You
may need to switch the unit on and press and hold the centre of the
screen until the message ?No detailed maps? message disappears.
If your map detail is missing, then the map information may have been
disabled. To check to see if the mapping has been disabled, follow the
From the Where to? and View Map page, touch the Spanner icon, settings
Touch Map Info.
The unit should display the name of the map that is loaded to the unit.
The box in front of the map name should have a tick in it. If it does
not, touch the box to place a tick in it.
Then please test by searching for an address.
