Inside the drum one of the tumblers is loose how do you tighten it up?

Hello,
You can tighten those baffles by getting to outside of drum to thighten the screws that hold them to drum. to get access to outside of drum;
Remove screws from door hinge

remove screws from other side of inside door as they are exaclty opposite the ones for hinges

pull off from panel by putting putty knife/screwdriver in seam between front panel/cabinet just below the sloped part of the top and pop off front panel

in the upper corners of the top/front panel is a clip that looks likea inverted "7" or if ya will a up side down "L" remove screws from the clips and remove the clip

now ya can raise top to get to outside of drum

rotate drum by hand in CLOCKWISE direction to turn drum so ya can get to each baffle

Thanks for using FixYa.com,
Gene

Inside the dryer there are 3 bars that stick out to help tumble the clothes. One of them has come loose and I'm not sure how to tighten it. It appears to be attached with screws that come thru the drum...

With the front off look up in the top left and right corners for some screws that hold the top of the dryer to the side panels. Depending on your model, there can be different styles. The old maytags used 3/8 in screws up inside the corners and the newer models had 5/16 screws right up front.
Once you get the front of the top loose you will be able to lift it like the hood on a car to gain access to the drum.
Rotate the drum by hand to put your loose fin at the top and tighten up your screws. Sometimes the screws will round out the holes on the drum too much and you may want to put a washer on the screw to secure it better.
Good luck!

The drum partician, or the tumbler bars are plastic and one of them broke off. I would like to replace it. Can I lift the top of the dryer off to access the screws on the outside of the drum?

I had the same problem but it's the FRONT Panel you need to remove. Before you start, unplug the thing first. BTW I did the whole proceedure in 10 minutes using an electric screwdiver / philips bit and a socket set with an 8mm socket with my leg in a cast. You can do better, I'm confident!

Two 8mm hex head bolts hold each fin on the drum. They can be replaced. You need to open the dryer front since they bolt from the outside of the drum. To open the dryer front you first take the door off by removing the two philips head screws, then slightly lift the door and pull toward you (the door hinges have little hooks on the end that inserts into the slots (this little design keeps the door from falling off during removal and install-nice). Then remove the two philips screws on the other side of the door opening (opposite the door hinges). These screws hold two plastic brackets (be sure to see how they are aligned before you remove them so you know how they go back on.

Now the front frame panel looks like an "H" . Grab the top two arms of the 'H" and give a quick pull. The top arms of the 'H" will come loose. The bottom part is held by a couple of clips, just pull up and the front panel comes off.

You will be able to spin the drum until the hex bolts for the fin(s) in question are visable / reachable from the right side (just above the heater unit-hope you unplugged the dryer earlier). I replaced it using an 8 mm socket.

Now reverse your steps: put the front panel back on the bottom clips and snap the top "H" arms back in place. Reinstall the plastic clips / screws and then put the door back on.

Neptune dryer MD5500 - the fin in the dryer is loose. How do you take the top off in order to access the outside of the drum?

First remove door. Remove the screws holding the front panel on (inside door recess), pull panle from top down and remove and set aside. Remove the 2 5/16 screws hold top down located at left and right sides. Lift top up for easy access.

One of the paddles came off inside the dryer

Remove the top and front of the machine. (Look for up to two screws them pop the top.) Remove the drum (be careful of the belt) Reattach the paddle - it should be self evident once you have the drum out. You might need to add a screw of two. While it is apart, Id be changing the belt.

Reassemble

Your wife will love you forever.

Simple.

DRYER FIN IN DRUM IS COMING LOOSE

Unplug the dryer, remove the door hinge screws that go into the cabinet and the two screws on the opposite side of the door opening, then the front panel can be removedby starting at the top. Once the front is off, there are two screws, one to each side that hold the top on, remove these and raise the top. You can rotate the drum by hand and the baffles are held on by the screws on the outside of the drum. Reassemble in reverse order.

use a putty knife and about 4 inches inside on each side insert the putty knife between the frount panel and the top and lift up on both sides, the tub will be visable to the screw holes in the tub to reinstall the vanes
