My solution worked i took out the printer head, filled a syringe with warm water and "only" squirted the bottom holes were the ink comes out' i did several times. and be carefull not to touch the holes as it will damage easly..and if you get water on the terminals wipe it off with kitchen paper or toilet paper. i had the same problem it wouldant clean i went through lots of cartriges until i tried my solution and worked. its caused by ink clogging up.(blocking). hope this helps. jay.

I replaced all 3 color cartridge with origanal hp products, even after calibrations (3 times-full mode) only cyan and black are printing nicely. red and magenta colors are not printing.this is not driver...

This is a common problem with this model of printer. The scanner optic degenration is due to dust buildup on mirrors and lenses. Since the most vulnerable mirror reflects its laser beam to the magenta toner cartridge, red tones are the first to show fading. Colours shift: purples turn blue and oranges turn yellow. The printer optics will need to be cleaned by a technician to resolve this issue as it means dismantling your printer deep into the optics to fix the problem.

My printer is only printing half the line.. can you help

do a deep clean cycle from you computer, and see if that solves the problem. type up one or two lines and change the color to blue or red. those are different ink tanks. if it prints in those colors, then your black ink is out or needs a deep cleaning.

Printed pages have blank lines in the print for the red, blue and yellow colors. Have tried cleaning and deep cleaning several times. No change.

If cartridge is good, prime and allign, remove cartridge and clean copper contacts with contact cleaner, if all fails replace printer.

MP780 printer doesn't show red color, I replaced a new Magenta color toner, but it didn't show any red color.

Go to printer maintenance and perform deep cleaning,do it for 3 times the if it doesn't clear the error, try to look for a chemical solution that can be use to unclogged printhead. Remove the printhead on the printer then soak it but don't dip the whole unit it might got wet the board of the printhead. You can also put some cleaning solution on your old cartridge without removing the printhead on the printer. You must put the solution of course on the magenta only. Let it there for 12 hours then perform a test.

Horizontal colored lines through grayscale printed photos

Hi George,

It sound's like an ink-feed issue:

1) Dirty heads, even after cleaning
2) No-ink or poor quality ink
3) Damaged head: some are part of the cartridge, some are not
4) Air bubbles in ink

The test page is typically not as hi-res nor as saturated as a
photo print. The hi-res photo puts the greatest demand on the print head.

The color lines you see are actually lines of missing color,
where the head has failed to deposit ink, so one or two primary
colors are missing from the complete picture.

For example missing yellow will make a blue line.
Missing magenta will make a green line
Missing cyan will make a red line.... etc..

Clean the heads again and again, print again and again,
hoping to flush the system.

BUT, keep in mind that cleaning wastes huge amounts of
ink and tiny little cartridges of ink cost more than many new printers.

Many lines on photos despite numerous cleaning, deep cleaning

it could be a faulty printer head in the printer or purged unit not work correctly to clean the heads. you need to do a deep head clean then try printer head tested again. may need to do this a couple of time. still have problems get a new printer head for the printer.
