Question about HP Compaq d530 PC Desktop

1 Answer

My HP Compaq D530 won't come on. The lights will not blink or anything. I tried to unplug the power cord from the inside for a few minutes and plug it back in. I even reset the cmos/memory sticks. Still doesn't work. Could this be the power supply or motherboard? When I plug in the power wire in the back, the lights in my room flashed for a second like it was sucking in power. What could this be? Thank you.

Bad mos feats meaning you need a new psu, the chances of the board being bad are slim if the lights flashed when the power is plugged in, but insufficient power to the main board often the case where theirs not enough 5 volt rail power to run the main board. the molex connectors should be pulled and try turning on the psu without a load. then try to plug the power back in. something may have just gotten lose. if it works then the psu is ok and all's well. mosfeats are transistorized circuits and they can fail on a heavy load on the board. recommendation for a desktop tower not a gaming machine is about 250 to 300 watt power supply atx ;)

Hi guys, I have an issue with my old HP Compaq D530 CMT Desktop. The power light blinks 5 times when I power on the pc (Pre video memory error). The Hp site suggests to: 1 Reseat the DIMMs in the memory...

Try the DIMMs in another motherboard.

Download the free 'MEMTEST86+' software, and burn it to a CD-recordable disk.
Put just _one_ DIMM into your computer, and boot from that disk, to run an intensive "memory-test" of that DIMM. If it "passes" (about 30 minutes per 512MB), then repeat with the other DIMM.

I unplug my pc and put it back after a few hrs then plug it back but there was only a blinking green light it does not turn on or off i tried everything like plug off and plug it on still the same i tried...

check the back of the power supply and make sure the voltage selector is set properly. try to switch it back and forth to the correct voltage. Swap the power cord with the monitor. Switch it on again. If the blinking green still comes up, press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds and see how it goes. If this does not work, disconnect all removable items and cables inside the system including power connection and connect them all and test the system again. Hope this helps

HP Compaq 6735s battery light orange blinking

Have you tried another power cord? If you try another power cord, and it still does the same thing, then I think your laptop is having a power problem. You need to take is to a technician to fix the problem for you.

Best wishes.

Will not pwer up. Greenlight blinking on back

The green blinking light can mean there is a problem with the power supply.

Try unplugging the computer from the wall, and turning on the pc on switch.

After a few minutes, try plugging it back in.

If that does not start things up, you may have a bad power supply.

If the power supply is bad, these models take standard power supplies. You should get an ATX 350Watt or higher power supply.

They are easy to replace, unplug the power from the wall, disconnect all the cables inside the computer. Unscrew the four phillips screws outside the back of the computer where the power supply is attached to the case.

Remove and replace.

If you don't feel comfortable with this, a good local computer shop can help you out.

HP COMPAQ D530 RED BLINKING LIGHT WITH BEEPING SOUNDS.

4 beeps & 4 flashes mean problem with the power supply. For my experience, most of the time the PSU is good, it is just overloaded.

HP Compaq d530

it all depends on the number of flashes , pause, repeat.
Since the problem did not indicate any beeps her is the following info

Power LED blinks RED 2 times, one every second, followed by a
2-second pause. = Processor Thermal Protection Activated

3 blinks 1 second apart = Processor not installed (not an indicator for a bad processor).

4 blinks 1 second apart .= Power Failure (power supply is overloaded)

Other possibilities are:
5 blinks 1 second apart No memory
6 blinks 1 second apart No graphics
7 blinks 1 second apart System board failure (detected prior to video)
8 blinks 1 second apart Invalid ROM
