Question about ASUS M2N68-AM SE2 Motherboard

1 Answer

I bought this motherboard: ASUS M2N68-AM SE2 Motherboard CPU Bundle - AMD Athlon X2 7550 2.50GHz OEM Processor, Geforce7025/nForce 630a, mATX Motherboard back on June 30, 2009 from www.tigerdirect.com. Now this motherboard constantly powers off and back on. I have an Nvidia 9400 GT PCI -Express video card, 530 watt power supply, DVD-Burner, 4 GB of RAM, and a AC powered USB hub with a mouse and keyboard connected to it. I have no idea what is causing this problem. I ran memory tests and all of them passed. It currently has the BIOS 0701. My hard drive and DVD-Burner are connected through SATA.

I guess this is happening because of the CPU getting heated, Kindly check if the CPU heatsink and the fan is seated properly. Also check if there is any power issue, try to connect the system to another wall socket

What bios are you using? Usually that error message can be disregarded since you can manually set the CPU clock, voltage, etc in the bios and it should work. Also, this might mean that the bios currently loaded is corrupted/broke. But since you did update the bios, to what version?
Also, are you using the integrated graphics for gaming? If so, that would not suffice for heavy gaming at high resolution. You should be using a dedicated video card for that.
As for system performance, how slow is it? What is your OS as well? can you try to download cpuid, and see if your processor is detected properly in windows.

M2N68-AM PLUS does not support cpu AMD Phenom 9750

No it does not. although it says it supports sockets AM2, AM2+, and AM3 and the Phenom 9750 is an AM2+, the Phenom 9750 has a wattage requirement of 125 watts. This motherboard ONLY supports CPU's up to 95watts! You would either need to get another motherboard or another CPU (or both and make a second computer).
Side note: also keep in mind that if using this motherboard with an AM2+ CPU, it will not be able to handle 1066MHZ memory (or higher) in dual channel mode, in order to get this speed you will either have to take out the second dimm or run both dimms at 800MHZ.
Hope this helps!! (and if it does, please rate or leave comment. It will be much appreciated!!)
