Use a silicone spray on the underside of the belt, this will lubricate the belt and make it run smoothly

Hoover makes a loud noise and does not pick up

Issar 702:

Take the machine to a room that has no carpeting, (this is 'gonna get messy :-) First, make sure that the machine is unplugged from the wall, then remove the wand with the hose and verify that the hose, wand and vacuum head are not clogged up... check carefully, some clogs or items stuck in the hose and wand assembly can be hard to find! Then check the hose from end to end making sure that the hose is clear of debris. Then open the canister and check to see that the gasket around the top of the canister is not damaged, then check the belt coming off of the motor driveshaft is not binding or damaged. You should be able to rotate the belt by hand with the machine off and unplugged.

Will not start. engine turns over very fast but

Hi does it sound like it is turning over much easier than normal? much faster as you say.

If so, it sounds like the timing chain/belt has broken
or the starter motor celinoid or the starter not catching.

Does the engine sound exactly the same tone wise or is it much higher pitch when trying to start?

Regards

Dan

When in fast spin there is a loud rattling sound as though there are stones in the drum

You could have something fast between the inner and outer drum, or one or more of the drum paddles is loose..
Remove lower rear panel of washer, remove the belt, and from the front spin the drum by hand, this this will show if the drum bearings are o/k.
There should be little or no noise from the drum.
If it is rumbling, or feels rough, then the main bearings have failed.
If ther is something caught, then you will hear it catching or clicking.
Hope this helps.

My car wont start, fuel pump problem?

fast high pitched noise? never seen or heard of this, done 100's of belts, this noise is caused by a belt being adjusted to tight, belts just break. do you have fuel pressure, what engine do u have?

Turns over really fast will not catch n start.... not firing almost acts like its gonna backfire...like air popping

The timing belt has jumped a tooth, you must d a compression test, then get a repair manual to check if the mechanical timing is of indicating a jumped tooth on the timing belt.

Vaccum stops cleaning after a while it shuts off

Sounds like the motor is overheating and thermalling out (Hight Temp shut down). This could be caused by overfilled cannister, obstructed passageways, or debris accumulated around the motors cooling fan. Try emptying the catch container and blow out / clean all the filters. Check for obtructions by going to the hose mode and alternately blocking and uncovering the nozzle end - feel for good suction and listen for a definite change in motor sound (Pitch Change) With the intake open, the motor should rev freely, when blocked it will slow and sound labored / loaded down. Another possible cause could be a binding brush roller overloading the motor - but this will usually burn out the belt first. Notice any unusual smells? Burned belts stink like burnt rubber.
