Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T20 Digital Camera

Open Question

Digital camera vibrates after taking pictures.

I took 2 pictures, one at a time, I would stop to look at the picture - and I'm holding the camera with my pinkie fingers on both sides and my thumbs hold half and half, the bottom of the camera.
That's when it vibrated. I took another same place picture, held the camera the same way to look at the picture, it starts vibrating.
I later went to another location and took a photo and again it vibrated. 3 times in one night. Fully charged battery. Can this happen and why?

SOURCE: vibration problem

The vibration is not caused by the focusing system but by the optical image stabilization system. Check this out:

SOURCE: Screen vibrates intermittantly. Also buzzing noise.

This is a problem with the lens gyro we can keep it from shaking it requires the camera to be taken apart and amodification done to the lens repair cost 65.00 in most cases.

SOURCE: vibrating and shaking

the sstepper motor of the focus assembly has slipped out of its track. that motor is a very powerful one which can cause the vibration.  once u change the mode to take the picture the motor should run in both direction to make some calibration. you cannot disable it. in the preview mode the optical assembly returns to it closed position and then the motor is switched off.
since it is a cybershot you need to be very careful in handling the camera if you have any plan to open it. it is recommended to be taken to the nearest service centre. any way the wheels might need replacement

All of the sudden I'm getting blurry pictures? What could be the reasons?

Possible reasons: 1) you are moving the camera when taking pictures, 2) make sure the lens is wiped clean of fingerprints, etc., 3) if taking pictures through glass (i.e. car windshield), make sure the glass is clean and 4) if taking pictures from a vibrating object (i.e. a running car), turn off the car to eliminate the vibration. The curvature of a vehicle's windshield COULD also distort your photos.

The problem you have is a faulty image stabilizer. It's a well known problem in these cameras. It's a hardware fault and I'm afraid you won't be able to fix it yourself. Usualy it requires the lens unit to be replaced. You should contact your local Sony service center or me at - I give the best prices. ;)
I work in a Sony service center.

Hope this helps!

Using Internal says memory full, no image!

I own the same camera, Not sure about no pictures showing in the memory but you can get a 2 gig memory card for around $20 in stores or around $15 or $16 on ebay, holds over 700 pictures at the highest resolution. Also try to download your pictures to your computer if you haven't already. Hope this helps.

Hello, jnsmiller,
Does the camera power off?
If so I would try a newer battery if you can
find one.
Usually an old battery if it is rechargeable,
will only hold a charge long enough to power up the camera
but when recording to disk it will power down.

After I take the picture there are lines going through the picture

I start to get that problem. There's a few things to avoid this problem. 1 is to switch it on for about 30 second before taking any picture. and 1 or 2 pictures at high exposure then take another and lower and another at lowest. let it forcus a couple times in low exposure and turn ti back to normal exposure and took your picture

Vibration alert - blurry pictures

The vibration alert flashes when the lighting conditions are poor and the flash is turned off. You can still take pictures in this mode and if teh camera is well stable, the pictures will be sharp. In low light conditions like indoors, turn on the flash or set the camera to Auto mode.

You need to let the autofocus time to focus. Press and HOLD the shutter button HALF WAY and wait for the white rectangle on the LCD display to turn green. Then press the button all the way down to take the picture.
