The fault could be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp.
The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp, if faulty the CCFL lamp can flicker or not light up. The CCFL lamp is a mini fluro lamp, and flicks on and off when faulty especially as it ages.

I just purchased 2 of these dimmers from ebay but they do not have the instructions. Both are exactly alike and have 2 wires. How do they install?

You posted under Pass and Seymour rotary dimmer that has two wires.

If your dimmer is like other rotary dimmers, it has a black and red wire.
Or it has 2 black wires.

If your switch has 3 wires, then the dimmer will not work.
If your switch has 2 wires:
Probably both switch wires are black.
One of these wires goes to Load (lights)
The other wire is Hot from breaker box

If dimmer has 2 black wires, they connect to either wire from switch.

If dimmer has black and red wires,
> dimmer-black connects to Hot from breaker
> dimmer red connects to Load
> green (if available) goes to bare copper wire

Recommendation:
If you do not know which wire is Hot from breaker, simply hook up dimmer and see if it works.
If it doesn't, then reverse the wires.

If this information does not fit your specific dimmer, please answer back with more details and we'll get it working.

Need to hook this up to a lutron eco-t528-277-2 ballast which only has a hot, dimmed hot and neutral

If I understand correctly, you have Leviton florescent dimmer

And you want to connect dimmer to Lutron ECO-series ballast

This is the ballast with 3 wires: Hot dimmed, Neutral and Hot
02b5a79.jpg

Is this your dimmer???? Has Black, White, Red, Yellow-red, & Orange

3103a3a.jpg

Here's how to do it:
Dimmer yellow-red is not used except for 3-way switch >> cap it off with wire nut
Dimmer orange wire connects to ballast Dimmed Hot
Dimmer red wire connects to ballast Hot
Dimmer white wire connects to ballast Neutral

Those are your wires going to ballast. As you can see, you need 3 wires going to florescent fixture

Next, let's focus on Dimmer:
Dimmer green wire goes to bare ground wire
Dimmer black wire connects to Hot from breaker box (we'll test for that next)
Finally the Dimmer white wire connects to ballast Neutral as discussed above BUT is also has to connect to Neutral from breaker box

This means the Dimmer white wire is connected to 2 wires >> one wire goes to florescent fixture and the other wire comes from breaker box

So which wires come from breaker box??
It should be a black and white wire.
Let's test to find Hot and Neutral that come from breaker box.

Mark your wires.
Disconnect all the wires and separate from each other
Turn on power
Use ordinary tester
Tape tester leads to wood sticks so hands stay away from electricity
Power is on
Test each wire to bare copper wire
When tester lights up, that is Hot from breaker box ... this wire connects to Dimmer black wire
Now, test the hot wire to each of the other wires
When tester lights up, that is Neutral wire ... this wire connects to Dimmer white wire, and also connects to Ballast neutral.

Connect one wire at a time, and it will work.

Black screen

Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed VIEWSONIC and other monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

I have a trimatron rotary dimer and i have no clue how to replace it with my other switch. the problem is the other switch only uses 1 black and 1 red wire not 2 black and 1 red plzzz help

If the dimmer has two leads, it is a standard dimmer. One wire brings power into the dimmer, the other lead send "dimmed" power out.
If the dimmer has three leads, it is a 3-way, which is a combination of a dimmer and a 3-way switch. One wire brings power into the dimmer, and the other two leads bring "dimmed" power out - when you cycle the on-off function (by clicking the switch) you are sending the "dimmed" power out one lead or the other. You can use a 3-way dimmer in place of a standard 2-way by simply not using one of the 2 wires coming out of the switch. BUT you must be certain to insulate the end of the lead you aren't using, because when the switch is "OFF", this unused lead will be live. If you are actually trying to wire a 3-way, here's an excellent how-to-- http://www.ehow.com/how_2280970_wire-threeway-dimmer-switch.html Please vote if you found this helpful. Thanks, Al

Dim Screen on the 2001 Toyota Prius

Yes the screen dims automatically when the lights are on to suit night driving. I am not specifically familiar with the 01 model, however on my 08 model, the display brightness is also manually adjustable via a button located below and to the right of the display. The button is marked with a series of short lines assembled in an arc. Hope this helps.
