Re: freezing up

Try removing your harddrive to see it that's what is causing the problems. Games should play fine without harddrive, but no save, of course. It it works without HD you may need to replace yours.

When playing my xbox 360,after approximately 45 minutes, the game will freeze up.what are all explanations for this problem and what can i do to fix it?the console has been sent back once already because...

unfortunately the same ic that dislodges from the board and causes the red rings also is responsible for the freezing up --the motherboard from excessive heat will no longer support all the solder connections from this microprocessor --regretfully i believe you should look into replacing it as any more soldering is just a band-aid

Why does my xbox 360 kepps freezing when i play games?

360's tend to lock up before the "red rings of death". You get this when the system overheats and has problems with the solder coming loose. Mine took a little over a weak before it got the red rings after it kept freezing after a few min.'s of playing.

It could be overheating because the fan is not getting enough air out. try cleaning the console itself outside and using can of compressed air to get any buildup in the vent holes and fan cleared. There are a few FAQS on this site to learn about a few tricks.

feel free to comment if you have any questions. Hope this helped and remember you have a three year waranty on your xbox for the red ring and E74 error!

Xbox 360 problem with scratching disks

If your xbox is making that ring around your disc chances are you are playing your xbox standing up, if you lay the xbox down on its side this may fix the problem atleast it did for me. And as for the the midnight club freezing all the time it is still doing this on my xbox, copy the game to hard drive, and it should deffinitly limit the game from freezing, it worked for me.

Xbox 360 freezing

Clean your disc, and keep objects away from the sides and back of the console... to allow cooling. Also might want to consider getting a cd lens cleaner, it'll get the dust out of there.

Xbox 360 screen freezing

Salutations nofear2313,

The "Ring of Death" is a known issue with Xbox 360's and Microsoft has actually extended their manufacture’s warranty to 3 years to cover this type of problem. I would contact 1-800-4MYXBOX to see how to get the unit serviced.

Hope this helps.

Console freezes and we are unable to do anything. No red lights just green. Anyone any ideas?

You are in dangerous waters!!!!! The problem with xbox's is cheap tin solder. when this solder gets hot your connections start to get bad. Slight problems cause freezing which almost always turns into bad connections leading to the ring of dealth. If it is in warrenty send it in!!! If not, Take it apart and use a heat gun on it. I have tried every thing on my first box after the ring of dealth. Tried, xclamp mod, eraser mod, cut out metal fan shroud mod, cooling plenum divider mod and others with no long term solution. I finaly took it apart and gave it about a minute of even heating with a heat gun on low and I have been playing the box hard for a couple of months now!!! Knock on wood!! Also I recommend the intercooler 2 to help with cooling your box down. It's load but it cools the box down dramaticly. Good luck
