Keyboard This is a valid question. Nobody I know can figure out how to use the symbol for degrees. example: Bake at 350 degrees or its 55 degrees outside. Is there a key on the keypad for that?

Re: Keyboard

You don't say what make and model so generally there is either a key with a degree symbol or it is on a keytop in a different color this means tou must use the code or alt. key with it.

I don't know why the keyboard for the typewriter is tying different symbols and why when i press a letter that i want, i get a different letter?

The most common problem is the print wheel is out of place. Turn the machine off and reseat the print wheel and turn it back on. If this does not fix it you have real problems.

When I type straight letters I get symbols and numbers an example I typed the phrase "Hi How are you?" w w-2 v/j a-qI appeared on my paper I have no idea how to clear this and return it to normal script

There is a switch on the keyboard that must have gotten moved..for symbols..or the printwheel is in wrong. Take the pw out and reseat it. it should spin when it is snapped back in. you may have to close the cover for it to go to it's Home position.

Look for a key with a coloured symbol,ie,indicating "keyboard 1",or something similar. Hold the code key down and at the same time press your selected key. Order should be restored. If not, look up an Olympia dealer and they will help you over the phone. One thing for sure ,you have inadvertely selected a 2nd or 3rd keyboard setting to accommodate an other daisy-wheel/language. Good luck!
