Question about Toshiba Satellite L35-S2366 Notebook

My wife has a toshiba satellite L35-S2151 laptop. When she went to turn it on, the orange battery light flashes 8 times and nothing else happens. Any clue as to what is going on?

Try turning on the device with the power connected if it turns on, keep the power plugged in for the entire day. See if you will have the same problem without the power supply. If it still occurs without the power supply, you may have a bad battery, you can verify if you can get swap battery from a similar laptop.

Power wont turn on..battery led flash orange


Remove battery. Maybe faulty? Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same specs. Reseat the Memory Mods. has the AC jack been damaged by pulling on the cord? Try plug in and at the laptop's AC jack "wiggle" the AC jack plug. Any change?

Fixing DC Jack for Toshiba Satellite L35 cost how


I believe the L35 uses what is considered a satellite power jack which means the actual jack is not soldered to the motherboard but uses a cable and plug, therefore is the easiest of the power jack repairs. The cable can be found on ebay for around 30 bucks or less. I usually charge 50 bucks for the labor plus the part, the laptop has to be disassembled to complete the repair. Toshiba Satellite L35 screen color turned to pink.


If you have a LCD-screen, not an old-style CRT-screen, it is the data-cable, and its connections, that are not transmitting one of the 3 "primary" colours, e.g., mix red & blue & green to get white,
but mix only two of those colours, and you could get pink,
because the mixing is an "additive" process.

If you mix NONE of the 3 primary colours, you should get BLACK.
If you see GREEN, you're seeing ONE of the primary colours.

Take out battery then try it.. if that dont work and it dont turn on then you might have to go inside..

Cant connect VGA form laptop to TV.


Sounds like you may be trying to use a resolution or scan rate the TV does not support. Many of these televisions do not support 720p, but DO support 1080i.

Issue


The computer models listed above may display a "Password =" prompt when the computer is turned on, even though no power-on password has been set. If this happens, there is no password that will satisfy the password request. If the computer is turned off and back on again, it is very likely that the same password prompt will appear. The computer will be unusable until this problem is fixed.

If the problem has not happened yet, you can prevent it from happening in the future by upgrading the BIOS to the newest version.

The occurrence of this problem on any particular computer is unpredictable -- it may never happen, but it could happen any time that the computer is turned on. If this problem does occur, it will be necessary to send the computer to a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider, who will fix the problem at no charge to you.



Resolution


If this problem has not yet occurred on your computer, then click the following link to download and install BIOS version 1.40. This BIOS displays a power-on password prompt only when a power-on password has actually been set via the BIOS Setup program.

You may also browse for a newer version of the computer's BIOS at pcsupport.toshiba.com.

BTW, I've heard that this only happens when you boot up on battery power.

Dc Jack replacement


you have to remove the screen from the laptop (in most cases) open the lower plastic case ,lift out the otherboard,carefully de-solder the dc-jack and then solder in a new dc-jack,and the re-assemble the whole thing.
