Question about System Power Supplies
I have just bought a house and they have an Antec by Apc set up on the phone line that my line goes thru this product and I don't know anything about it. What does this do for my phone line or who can I go to, to find out more information on what this product does? My phone line I have tried everything to hook up my dsl line so I don't get interferance on the phone but when I am hooked up to my dsl my phone has a high pitch sound that you cannot hear the person talk and I am curious to see if this product could have anything to do with that?
The phone company can take it out for you and put in DSL, you can do it your self if you know what to do. I would take it out and go to home depo and get the dsl parts and wire, you need to have a lot to run thou the walls. The phone company maybe your best way, if you have any friends that know anything about running dsl wire this would be your cheepest way out.

I have one of these devices - it was installed by the cable company (Charter) as part of the equipment that lets charter carry my phone service. It is a battery backup for the line so that when power goes out you dont lose your telephone. Your regular phone wires dont require external electricity to work, but cable companies do. And people like being able to make a phone call to report a power outage for example.
If you dont use your cable company as your local telephone provider, you should be fine removing it.
